Hi all, I am struggling with getting the configuration settings correct for a package that offers a customer the ability to host two WP websites using one cPanel account. I want the customer to be able to completely separate both domains. Currently the system is combining both the domains ie. when the customer registers the second domain as an 'Addon Domain', it registers it as a sub-domain therefore combining the files with the initial first registered domains root file system. When the customer types in the url of second domain, it doesn't exist. When she types in the sub-domain, only then she is taken to the theme she chose for the site. So the system is basically treating the domain as a sub-domain instead of an actual separate domain.

Also, under my list of accounts, her second domain that she registered does not appear, only her first initial domain appears.

I have attached a screenshot of my current settings.

You would need to check that the addon domain is not linked as subdomain to primary domain name which usually whm cpanel do. When you add the domain make sure the option is unticked:
Document Root (File System Location) If the document root is shared then the created domain will serve the same content as “domain”. This setting is permanent.
Share document root (/home/hitech/public_html) with “primarydomain”.

When you create an Addon domain, 3 things happen:
  1. A folder is created in the 'public_html' directory
  2. A subdomain is created for the primary domain and attached to the new folder
  3. The new domain name is associated with the subdomain

I would rather create as a reseller account and attach max 2 domains/account in which they would be separated accounts to avoid confusions, hope this helps.

Thanks for the direction. Would this mean that the 2 domains will have 2 separate cPanel accounts if going the reseller account route?

Yes that is true, otherwise just untick this and it will be separated from your primary domain.

I have customers who are not so clued up technically. So having a separate cPanel account for each website is going to work nicely for them. Less confusion for them, and less tickets for me to respond too:)
