Hey, I am searching for a storage server to backup my website data but I am wondering if I can have root and SSH access on a storage server or not?

Absolutely! Having root and SSH access is likely very useful for your storage server administration.

Of course, after initial configuration, it is recommended to setup SUDO user and disable root logins for production environments. This prevents a lot of unwanted and unauthorized login attempts-thereby, improving security and also reducing the server load required for connection and logging of such events. If needed, you can always re-enable root logins from your SUDO user.

Sure you can, but don't forget to ask the provider before you purchase a storage disk for your websites.

If you have a need to manage your storage servers in a more hands-on way than what the built-in storage management tools offer, you can use SSH and root access to do so. This will give you the necessary permissions to manage your disks and files, as well as perform other system administration tasks.
