Cloud server is a virtualized computing instance hosted on a virtualized clustered infrastructure (Cloud computing infrastructure). Such infrastructures feature:
- Scalability (it does not have to be powered off to install new computing resources - CPU, RAM, Storage, anything)
- Some form of Failover (High Availability) (which means if there is a interruption of service, there is a automated procedure in place to return the services online shortly and to avoid longer downtime)
- Load-baancing (some Clouds feature load-balancing as a way to offload certain host of system and to distribute the computing tasks across other computing nodes part of the Cloud system)
- External Storage Arean Network (SAN), with different storage policies and different storage types (SATA, SAS, SSD)
- Fault-Tolerance for computing tasks on a infrastructure level and on the Cloud server level (This provides business continuity).
