There are all kinds of names I've seen over the years. I was wondering how you came up with your company name? Is there anything meaning behind it? How long did long did it take you to come up with it.

For mine the Koi is named after a type of fish that gets large that's related the goldfish/carp. I figured we have providers named after gators, crocs, sharks etc, why not a fish?

Mine is called HostingCompany.xyz. It's a hosting company, but mostly a forum. Anyway, the reasoning behind the name is the simplicity of the words and the hip and trendy .xyz extension added on. However, though, the .xyz extension possibly means many won't take it as seriously. Nonetheless, the forum is supposed to make more money via hosting companies placing ads than from me selling hosting. In that case, I'm not so concerned about the name.

Mine is three random letters, I wanted something simple like OVH but 3 character domains cost serious money. I went with LJSHost instead of LJS

I've always believed a business is built from the inside first, having a strong brand can help in the short term but if the back end is not their then long term no amount of branding and marketing will save you.

Just look at the big brands like GoDaddy, GatorHost etc are they respected in the industry or spoken highly of from experienced hosting customers, no they are not.

FloXera is a word our mother (she's now 83) use to call us when we were young and we use to do things fast, like taking things from one place to another and always count the seconds we use to take for doing it.
I think somehow it's related to a disease that appear here in the vineyards many years ago and spread very fast from the States to the Europe and the rest of the world in just a few years. It was like the actual DNS propagation ;)
If you are interested in know a little bit more about the name: https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filoxera

The owners of the company were discussing what to name the company and they kept coming back to the idea they needed a name that once you heard it once, you would not forget it. This conversation was happening after hours and one of the owners was speaker phone in the kitchen with his wife preparing dinner in the background. As the discussion continued the names got stranger and stranger, making the owner's wife laugh more and more. This owner also had a Rooster that would crow a random time and for now reason. Eventually the owner's wife said, "You guys are as crazy as rooster out back". So then the name Crazy Rooster came up, which migrated to Mad Rooster and 13+ years later we are still here.

I totally hear you, my cousin started his company about 5 years ago, he wanted something solid, short but different.
He went from mixing names, to use old ones, until the point he got kind of stressed about it.
At the end, he found a company that makes the hard work and found a killer name for his company, haha.

We are techs who heal servers. So we chose "ServerHealers" :) You can also check our logo ( serverhealers.com ) and can see techs holding hands and healing a server. :)

I started my company under the name "Servers Sale" (ServersSale.com) as initially I intended to only sell dedicated servers and VPS, but with customer demand we even introduced web hosting services etc... and I owned the domain "rectified.net" also since 2003 or 2004 and i liked the company name "Rectified Networks" which is kinda more brandable then "Servers Sale" and at the same time we got the opportunity to change country of incorporation for our company from Singapore to US, so during this change we moved our business to Rectified.net and company name Rectified Networks Inc.

"Servers Sale" was new company with very few customers so it was not a big deal to move all customers to our new company, basically all services and servers were same, so for customers all we did is changed the domain name.

The first "company" name I had was made due to fixing the initials of all four of our main members and ordering them until it sounded catchy and made a bit of sense, it ended up with the word "ROAD" and we thought that was awesome.

The second company name just came to me out of the sudden, and since it was very original, I took it as it was. Of course there are a few random name generators online you can use if you're not really imaginative.

Cheers!

Hi,

I think a Company's name would consider this factors in making one. First, what is your niche all about? It must be connected to what your product is / what you are selling to your potential customers / buyers / clients.
Second, a name that would catch one's attention, something unique or out of this world.
Third, something that's quite easy to remember, so that your potential customers can memorize it in a snap.
Making a Name is not an easy task especially if its your business because it would be your BRAND, it must contain all of these factors so that it can be a buzz to the market.

I would probably name my company after my son's name like most of the business starters do. For them it will give the company the inspiration to become successful. It could be the first name and mostly initials are being used which makes it more look like a real business. There are lots of restaurant which are named after their children's name and in fact, there is one famous shopping mall here in our country that is named after the owner's son.

Though right now I don't have a company name for myself, I do believe in having catchy and meaningful titles that will directly link you to your customers. First, your title needs to relate to your company. This is a given. Second, it must relate to you in some way. How do you connect to your business? How does your life relate to your business? This will show your customers that you are invested in your business and that it means a lot to you. And lastly, the name should be catchy, unique, and eye opening. If the title is similar to many others in your business field, customers will not see it as different, and will be less likely to click on it. However, if you think of a very unique name that makes your business stand out, you are sure to attract many people!
