Hello Harry P

Glad you have taken interest in our VPS packages.
The Dedicated RAM is when the amount of RAM mentioned is 100% dedicated to you and you only (not shared with anyone else on the server).

Having Dedicated RAM means your performance is stable and is not effected by others on the same server much like a Dedicated server. This is because regardless of how much others on the same server abuse their RAM, your RAM is not effected.

On the other hand if you were using Virtual RAM or shared RAM, your RAM would be shared with others on the server or would have limitations e.g. you can only take advantage of your entire RAM resources for a certain amount of time then it will decrease as a penalty (this is called burst).

Regards
Daniel

Think of it like this:

If the server has 12Gb of RAM
Host offers VPS plans to 6 customers, each getting 2Gb of ram.

If it is dedicated ram, you will always have 2Gb available to your VPS
If it is shared ram, them the host could add more customers to the server, and you may only get 1Gb of ram during peak hours.

What is the difference between dedicated RAM and Shared RAM on a VPS? How can I check if my VPS is using dedicated or shared RAM, I tried to view an offer here https://forumweb.hosting/14115-luxi...ted-traffic-dedicated-ram-24-7-live-chat.html and its offering Dedicated RAM but i don't know what benefit it can brigng to my VPS? Do you guy explain me?
Shared RAM mean virtualization with OpenVZ or LXC. For a testing server, if it's cheap no problem, but for web hosting, a complete virtualization system like KVM, VMware or Xen will make sure you are paying for the resources available and also offer a complete isolation for your server.

Yes, I agree shared RAM can be used by another user on same time. but there is still 1 GB dedicated 1 GB is shared total 2 GB. In dedicated 2 GB is dedicated to your server. Most of the providers give dedicated RAM .

I got your points but how to detect that my VPS hosting is using dedicated ram or shared ram? is there a way or tool to check these?

You don't really, this information is not typically available to the end user. Best way to find out is to ask your provider.

On our VPS node it is currently:

Code:
Memory Usage:
39%
24.32 GB of 62.74 GB Used / 38.42 GB Free
Usually stays around that. The point is we could offer a lot more memory if we wanted to for the same price, but if it isn't broke, don't try to fix it as they say.

Using Dedicated + Burstable/vSwap works well, especially with OpenVZ. When a node has 64GB plus RAM, there's usually always plenty of MEM to go around. The most valuable resource to be worried about is CPU as that can be used up a lot quicker than MEM.
