With the budget $65 / mo, should I choose a dedicated server hosting or cloud hosting? which is better? there are many good cloud hosting offers and dedicated server offers on this forum but I am getting confused to choose a good one. Need an advice from some of you here.

Thanks
Max

Hi Max

A cloud VPS is superior to a dedicated server in every way in my opinion

Dedicated Server

If the server has hardware problems your offline until it gets fixed

Cloud VPS

Protection against all hardware failure
The ability to restore your server to a previous state from backup's easily (virtual servers are just a few files)
Instant to upgrade if you need more power or storage.

If you do choose a VPS be careful who you buy from, many providers market ' Cloud VPS ' when their products are not powered using hyper visor technology, and you will just be dumped on a single server with no redundancy with a bunch of other customers. Always ask the provider what cloud platform they are using along with redundancy/failover questions.

I think dedicated servers are slowly becoming a thing of the past, cloud servers provide so much more.

Hi Max,
For $65/mo is better to get VPS, I didn't look dedicated server offers yet so I can't tell what you cat for that price. But 65$ is little bit small price for dedicated server, you can use dedi only if you must to have dedi.

Greetings !

For our point of view , we suggest going with SSD VPS for this budget you will get a great plan.
With the budget of $80/mo, you won't find dedi that would worth the money :) .
Regarding Cloud vs Dedicated, our opinion is that both are close the same from performance and security view point. With powerful high-end node you can reach better performance that with cloud.

Cloud hosting is not good for applications such gaming servers.

Hello Max

You should either go for a high spec VPS or a dedicated. The issue with a VPS for you would be that the uplink is shared with others and the reliability of the server is also effected by others on that server.

If you know how to manage a server, I would highly suggest you go for a dedicated so that you have the entire uplink to your self and 100% reliability from that server. In addition in VPS, the CPU power tends to be shared which is an other down side however for most websites this should not be a massive put down.

This would be issue if the shared connection is <50Mbps and in case of overselling. I don't believe that his project with budget of 80$ will have that much bandwidth needs. And for his budget he won't find any premium node so it would be slower than VPS of the same budget :)

Speed vs Redundancy. If your app/website is I/O intensive a Cloud VPS is not going to compete with the speed of a dedicated server or VPS with SSD. If you have most your website setup for caching then Cloud VPS may work fine and offer you the redundancy.

As far as I'm concerned Cloud hosting is better than dedicated hosting because it provide better services because of highly safe and secured server and it enhances business to perform their activities with high functionality.

Hi,

A dedicated server arrangement means the server is not shared with anyone else one. That means only data and applications are hosted on the server and nobody else - except your web hosting company, should they be instructed to do so - will be accessing the server. Cloud hosting has many advantages, which is why it has become so popular. It is extremely reliable, because even if one of the connected servers goes down, the other servers will maintain hosting. Because the cloud is run on multiple servers, you can easily add more servers enabling seemingly endless scalability.

Thanks,
