I want to build some small blogs with blogger and wordpress.com but using my own domains. It is possible to point my domains to use free blogs from bloggers and wordpress.com
as I am checking with wordpress.com they are offering Personal package $2.99 per month, billed yearly. Should I use these services or buy a shared/VPS hosting package for my domains?

Just to make it clear,
Nor Blogger nor WordPress.com will boost your SEO/SERP ranking.

It is pure myth which comes from "SEO gurus -> lamers" who believes that if a service is powered by Google and you use it for your website/content will boost your ranking which is NOT true :)

If this was even 1% true then all businesses would be on Blogger :D

What will really boost your SEO/SERP ranking is :

- Blazing Fast Web Hosting with 99.99% uptime
- Unique and relevant content
- Quality backlinks
- Social Signals

and for local SEO you should have local domain + quality backlinks from other local websites.

Good Luck :)

I would go with a shared hosting plan for your blogs, it will give you more control compared to blogger or other blog hosting services.
It should not matter for your SEO if your on Google's service or not, unless they have rigged the SERPS to give favor to their own hosting which I doubt.

I would like to recommend you to go for any hosting provider on monthly basis, don't purchase hosting plan on yearly basis because you are unsure about hosting companies support, server performance etc.

You can search in google for Wordpress blog hosting keywords and you will found out many options in your budget.

As mentions by other user at above, it would be better to go with good blog hosting provider who provide you fast speed server with SSD disk space, CloudFlare, quick technical support and who are already established or make sure they are not going to shut down hosting company soon.
