It depends on purposes you want. If you just want a simple contact form or a simple form for simple task, then I would suggest you use Contact Form 7 as it's easy to use, and didn't eat much resources.

Contact form 7 is basic, so easy to use.

Gravity is the king, many awesome features

+1 for Contact Form 7 and i use it all on my blogs and websites
I used Gravity Forms some times but it is an advanced one and more complex than Contact Form 7
I heard good reviews of Ninja Forms but I have not used it yet.

Contact Form 7: Free and open source, no addons, in other words, no way to extend the plugin.
Ninja Forms: Free and open source, paid addons.
Gravity Forms: Not free but open source, which is confusing, all paid, nothing free.

I have tried Ninja Forms, but still only use Contact Form 7, simply because it does the job I need it to do. I've never tried Gravity Forms.

We used all the three forms.

I will rate as following.

1) contact form 7, free and does decent job for most people, this is enough
2) Gravity forms , paid. But comes with drag and drop forum builder, still the person needs to know logics to build and use conditional options and other things which makes it better choice for advanced form users.
3) Ninja forms, used in past. But I feel that contact form 7 is much better.

Note: For Gravity forms and Ninja Forms, you still need to write some css code to make forms look good. Unless your wordpress theme author have css code ready to use for the mentioned plugins.

Forms should be beautiful and easy to use for users, so they will really show interest towards using them. Hope this helps you, thanks you.

I thought Contact form 7 also has its function "drag and drop" but contact form 7 is too large if you just use it on a small site, it will be a waste.
