You could sell 8x VPS with 1 vCPU & 8 GB RAM each or you could even do 4x VPS w/ 2 vCPU & 16 GB RAM if you want.

Of course, there are certain hypervisors that will allow you to oversell all resources, like OpenVZ, but this is not advised due to performance and security concerns.

The number of Virtual Private Servers (VPS) that can be created on a server depends on various factors such as the server's hardware specifications, available resources (CPU, RAM, storage), and the specific requirements and workload of each VPS. It is challenging to provide an exact number without knowing these details.

However, a server with adequate resources can typically host multiple VPS instances, ranging from a few to several dozen, depending on their individual resource requirements and the server's capacity. It is essential to consider the balance between resource allocation, performance, and the server's capability to handle the workload effectively while maintaining stability and optimal performance for all VPS instances.

The number of VPS you can create with a server depends on the following factors:

  • The CPU power of the server.
  • The amount of RAM on the server.
  • The amount of disk space on the server.
  • The operating system and software you will be running on the VPS.
In general, you can expect to create one VPS for every 2-4 CPU cores on a server. So, if you have a server with 8 CPU cores, you could create 4-8 VPS. However, the exact number of VPS you can create will depend on the other factors listed above.

Congratulations on starting your hosting website! You have made a great choice by investing in a dedicated server with impressive specifications. The 4-core, 8-thread CPU and 64GB of RAM are robust resources that should provide a solid foundation for hosting various services and handling significant traffic. Having a dedicated server offers several advantages for your hosting business:
  1. Performance.
  2. Resource Allocation
  3. Scalability
  4. Security
  5. Customization
  6. Reliability
However, along with the benefits, there are also responsibilities associated with managing a dedicated server:
  1. Maintenance
  2. Security
  3. Customer Support
  4. Backup and Disaster Recovery

Which processor you are using because 8 cores are very less if you create more than 8 or 10VM with more bit high usages it might start creating issues.

This depends on your sales policy and the type of virtualization you are using. For example, we use KVM type virtualizer and we never think about overselling to maintain quality. But I have seen that sometimes companies that use VMware ESXi virtualization often allocate more resources to virtual machines than the available server resources due to the ease of overselling settings.
