I would like to have your opinion about the advantages of using a vps hosting instead of a shared hosting?

Hello hostuto !

1) You can see how much "real" resources you can use. With a shared hosting you can't know if you are paying for 1Mb or 1GB ..

2) You can install all the software you need. So even with a small VPS you can have the fastest WordPress Website (that mean you haven't bought a VPS 1GB RAM with cPanel ...)

3) You can host as much websites as you have space on your disk. No need to pay more.

Hi Hostuto,

Their are many advantages of having a VPS instead of shared hosting

1. It's all yours, you have full control and can install any software and configure the server exactly as you wish.
2. some people don't like to share, It's nice having your own server :computer:
3. You often have more power than with shared hosting although a low end VPS with normally not out perform good shared hosting.

The main drawback is the server management required, if your not good with running a linux or windows server and bad things happen you need to be able to fix it, however if you go for a managed server you don't need to worry about it.

I'm sure everyone has their own reasons for choosing a VPS over shared, but that's the main points imo.

hello @hostuto

it comes down to the amount of requests your websites gets and the traffic.

if you website is has a lot of traffic then you should get VPS for the following reasons:
1.) much faster load times.
2.) dedicated* resources (still shared but with a few and RAM is most of the time dedicated)
3.) Avoid getting kicked off of your shared hosting plan if you are currently on one due to abuse.
4.) You have a lot more freedom on what you can use the VPS for.
5.) You can upgrade on fly, specially with cloud VPS.

if you do not have much traffic you should get shared hosting for the following reasons:
1.) VERY cheap
2.) Most of the time daily backups are included.
3.) You do not need to manage it as you would have to with unmanaged VPS.
