The VPS is better for website as owner be able to install any software of their choice, without having any limits as with shared hosting, data is more secure as it's not shared with other accounts,

This statement is both true and false at the same time. A VPS gives the website owner more flexibility with the capability of being able to install, configure and maintain their own software and modules. This can be extremely convenient as some projects will require access to the operating system at a level that wouldn't be secure or recommended on a regular web hosting system. The statement however that a VPS would be more secure is one that can be taken different ways. Depending on the level of experience that the person who is managing said VPS has, the system can either be secure or it can be extremely insecure and open to all vulnerabilities that would be covered and monitored on a traditional web hosting system.

Keep in mind that any reputable hosting company will utilize high grade hardware to deliver their customers content, sometimes this hardware can be equivalent to if not more powerful than the systems that serve most VPS packages. A VPS node will house just as many, if not up to twice as many websites than that of a shared hosting system. A lot of providers that you look at, such as Ramode, will cram upwards to 100 VPS instances on to a single piece of hardware utilizing such processors as the Intel E3 series. Each of these VPS may be housing upwards to 200 websites, plus the operating system. Looking at a Shared Hosting system using the same hardware configuration housing around 500-1,000 customers in entirety with one operating system instance there is a great deal more room for flexibility. My recommendation is to go with the small to mid sized hosting providers, as companies such as HostGator and other EIG brand names will take that same system and put upwards to 3,000 websites on it.

Finally, as mentioned before, the way that the VPS functions and it's capabilities truly depend on that of the manager is able to manage. Keep in mind that most people will speak of a 512MB-1GB VPS node as being a great choice, however the software that is running at the operating system level will eat up most of that. A traditional host using software such as CloudLinux with CageFS will also be able to not only guarantee resources to their customers, but also effectively isolate one customer from the others making a secure platform that can be relied upon. The average web hosting account will provide 512MB to 1GB of memory capacity to each account (with the exception of the larger companies who limit this to 256MB or less), and that level of memory is strictly metered on the website utilization and not the software used to deliver said website.

To see the same amount of potential that you would get with a web hosting account that you pay less than $10 per month for, you would have to spend around $50 per month or more (at 4GB+ of Memory).

Though the flexibility and capability is there, I do not see any logical situation that it would be recommended that most traditional websites move to a VPS.

hi,
A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting service.

I have been running websites since 2009 on VpsWebserver windows vps, and definitely prefer using VPSes.

With a VPS, you have complete control over your section of the server and can install anything you want. You Get Your own IP address and Your VPS can be so much more than just a web server.

VPS is your own server with root access. You can host anything on it as it's your server. You can have any applications, software. You will have the bandwidth, resources, inode only for your service, it won't get shared with any other server. You will get dedicated resources for your service on VPS. You can manage the server in your way.

Server will have good up-time and security measures if you will manage it from your end as there won't be interfere of other service. You will have root SSH access too.

VPS is the Virtual Private Server used by the web host provider. It is completely independent of the other accounts on the server and gives the freedom to run any apps you want. VPS provides the greater performance, more flexibility, and security for your website.VPS works like a mini dedicated server. With VPS you have full control of your operating system and programs.
