Linux! Preferred OS is CentOS for home usage.
I'd switch permanently to Linux if more programs worked on it. Unfortunately, a lot of the programs I use - do not.

I prefer windows even when I have macbooks and linux systems. The reason, multiple system compatibility, and higher affordability and better flexibility when it comes to buying upgrades.

I was once a MAC guy, for many years, actually, but then, after a decade in academia, I naturally switched over to PC systems which supported and interfaced with all of the software I was using for my job. That stuck, and I have found that I prefer PC formats much better for my needs, professional and personal.

Windows user all the way. I'm a stickler for old habits, and I don't intend to swap to something new, unless it's so good that the world decides to move on to the new thing. But since OS is about as popular as Windows, I'm staying with what I love.
Also, Windows computers are cheaper and much better for gaming, so I see no reason to try out OS.

I currently use Windows 10 with my laptop as well. Honestly, I can't see myself ever moving away from the Windows OS because I've just become accustomed to it and it's just so easy to use.

I've been using only Windows OS, and I've really got used to it, so I don't have any intentions to switch it.

I utilize Ubuntu because it's a lot more adaptable in regards to setup than Windows as well as Mac, and has no infections to bother with. This flexibility, nonetheless, does mean that you can face issues with your setups rather quickly, but once you get the hang of it, it does not actually occur that typically.

The "Mac vs PC" debate has been going on for years but what do you prefer?

I'm a PC guy but thinking about switching to Mac soonish.

It would be quite interesting to see which is the preferred choice within this forum :)
I am fan of fedora OS but now a days I use windows and Ubuntu. Windows, because it has the best GUI among all the operating systems I have seen so far.

Ubuntu because of its simplicity and most people use it. We must understand that operating system is for doing your tasks. So, you should choose one which helps you satisfy all your needs.

In the past I didn’t have a very powerful system and that time I used Ubuntu as my host OS and it was working very well. I used Fedora too for quite some time and I liked fedora over Ubuntu as it was more stable with my system and I knew how to use it very well. I generally used to mess up my Ubuntu earlier than fedora.
However, I find windows to be best for a normal user who needs tools to satisfy their work and you can later prioritize your tasks and see which one will serve you best based on the configurations of your computer.

Regards,
Akshay

- Compared to Windows, Linux is more stable with PC as well as servers.
- Less probability of virus attack to the default filesystem compared to Windows, which always opens to many known vulnerabilities without an antivirus.
- Linux takes less resources to run a default Operating System installation compared to Windows.
- Linux has various distros available and is really free to use.
- Linux provides flexible commandline to manage the whole system.
- Good community support, regular updates, patching is available.

I like Windows 10 , is fast and stable together with Ubuntu. I can say I passed trough almost all versions of Windows from Dos 6.x to Windows 10. I loved programming in FoxPro for Dos....Amazing !!! Linux is my first love of course...

Linux and its open-source relations. Because if you find an annoying problem you can fix it (at least, if skilled in the art). With Windows and friends you are stuck with annoying behaviour, such as it thinking every line of an email is a new sentence, how brain dead is that ?

Now it is highly debatable whether an email client is part of the operating system or not. And it most certainly is not implemented in the kernel. But as far as the end-user is concerned, it is part of the canned offering. And at once stage Microsoft did claim in court it was impossible to unbundle the Internet Explorer browser from the rest of their offering. Which goes to show that lawyers don't know much about O/S design.

Now for the older generation, the main gripe is that newer versions of software make gratuitous changes to the user interface design. So the experience we previously had, to set against the energy of the younger generation, soon becomes worthless.
