Joomla is best for creating websites oriented to e-commerce and website requiring a more professional touch. Joomla has thousands of extensions to offer, which are instrumental in increasing the functionality of a website. With its wider flexibility, enhanced features and premier extensions, Joomla to greater extent out beats WordPress.

WordPress is best in comparison Joomla because in Wordpress best functionality is available. We consideration Wordpress main benefit like bellow mentions that:
1. Fast set up, easy and quick to deploy.
2. Speed and website load time is faster in comparison Joomla.
3. File structure is simpler than Joomla and more intuitive.
4. Handles content and photo websites very well.
5. The most common customization options are built in and easy to understand.
6. Navigation and widget management is drag and drop. Much easier to use.
7. Basic computer users can learn to manage a Wordpress website easier.
8. Has very good documentation about all the hooks that can be used.
9. Short codes make it easy to code custom features that a website admin can easily drop in where needed.
10. Site URL structure is easy to set up through Permalinks and using Categories.
11. More stable than Joomla. It doesn't seem to break quite as often.
12. Wordpress uses many less files to operate and seems to have less code bloat.
13. SEO changes are easier to admin, pages are easier to find.
14. Very fast powerful search features on the back end help you find what you are looking for quickly.
15. The best solution for the majority of business websites.

Different people might have different opinions on which of these they think is the best CMS so any posts are likely to be opinions as "Best" is something that can be seen in the eye of the beholder.

To me I think that Wordpress is a better CMS for many reasons.

Some of them are:

There are many more themes and plugins for Wordpress

There is a lot more information around the web about Wordpress

It's easier IMO for those new to building websites to learn

It can be used for just about any type of website

There are lots of available Wordpress developers out there if you need one

These are just some of the reasons why I think that Wordpress is a better CMS than Joomla.

This is all that it comes down to really. It's totally up to the person that is going to use it. Regardless of Wordpress undeniable popularity comparing to other CMSs out there ( the latest reseaches show that it outgrow 25% of the total web share) it all comes down to what you're looking to get out of it.

Wordpress has a vast community and the number of plugins out there is just enormous. Some of the reasons why I would see people go for Joomla instead of WP is if they are looking for an e-commerce or a social networking websites ( but the same can be addressed with woocommerce on wp).

My vote goes to WP not for it's ease of use or quality - just for the number of people that use it which means a bigger community - which again means faster problem solving.

Good morning,

WordPress is basic but can integrate functionality by setting up extensions. Joomla has a lot of functionality but need them to be configured each time. So, if there is no developers maintaining the website, you should choose WordPress. But if the website owner will take a developer for each very small tasks, Joomla will be more appreciated.

That's probably one of the reasons why Wordpress is growing at such a high rate compared to Joomla. Maybe one day they will make some improvements to help this but I won't hold my breath waiting for it.

I think that wordpress is the best one. When I first started to learn how to build websites I tried some different software and wordpress was the easiest one for me to learn. I had no experience with building websites and I was able to pick up how to do things quite quickly.

WordPress, no question, It's the most user-friendly, I would definitely lean towards WordPress being the one which will most likely satisfy the needs of the individual, it always depends on what purpose the site is meant to serve.
WordPress seems to have a vibrant community.

Wordpress is easier to deploy and play around without prior knowledge on the CMS platform, though it's less secured compared to the others. Unless you keep your plugins updated and remove the useless/outdated ones.

I have come to love Wordpress as I use it. I was experimenting with Mambo before (before it became Joomla), and it was a nice CMS all around back then. Wordpress was then very blog-centric. But with the extensive amount of plugins available today, and the tight integration with the Wordpress interface, it is now possible to use Wordpress beyond blogging. In fact I have used Wordpress when I was asked to create a website for a startup. The vast number of choices in themes also served as a deciding factor for me to choose it over other CMS.

I would prefer Wordpress. As an amatuer, Wordpress is totally a plus point for me. Not only is it easy to use but there are so many different themes that you can choose from. It just keeps growing!

WordPress and Joomla both are popular CMS. Both are having open source software and are free to download. The base of these CMS is PHP and supports the MySQL database. Both are having number of free and paid templates and themes. Boith sites supports the multiple languages. Though both are similar, here are some differences between them -

1. Installation - WordPress installations is quite easy and takes less time compare to Joomla. Joomla also has the easy installation but it takes more time and complicated than the WordPress.

2. In-built themes and plugins - WordPress has the more number of free and easy to update the themes. When you will install the WordPress, it comes with the number of free themes. Also you can search the related theme and plugins from the admin panel of the WordPress. Joomla has the templates and extensions but those are not configured under Joomla admin panel, you will have to search them and after that you can install them.

3. Support Cost - Support cost for Joomla is more because it's not easy to find the Joomla expert easily. There are online forums, communities but when you will need the expert at your end then it's costs more for the Joomla.

4. Security - WordPress sites are the main target of the hackers. There are multiple security plugins and updates are available which secures your website from the hackers. Those are automatically get installed on the WordPress. Joomla has the extensions and new updates for securing the site. But we need to manually install them.

5. Importing the data - Importing the data on the Joomla is the hard task compare to WordPress. Also migrating the Joomla from one version to another is very hectic task.

So choice is yours. :)

Greetings to all,

CMS stands for Content Management System.
With the help of this great tool, building and maintaining websites has become a lot easier than before.
If you are planning to build your website now, with the use of CMS, you will most likely encounter the two titans in this industry - Joomla and Wordpress.

This post is dedicated to pointing the out the best of one compared to the other.

In your opinion, which is the best CMS - Joomla or Wordpress?

Go ahead express your thoughts.
I have experienced using both Joomla and WordPress. Although some would actually prefer Joomla over WordPress, I believe the later versions of WordPress has become for efficient as a CMS.

In a company that I used to work with, they were using Joomla as the CMS for their website. Comparing that version of Joomla to the version of WordPress during that time, I have already observed the limitations of Joomla compared to WordPress. One of those is when you create a post in Joomla, you have to type again the excerpt, or copy and paste a portion of your content. Unlike in WordPress, all you need is insert the Read More tag.

WordPress has a humongous selection of themes and plugins that you can easily use on your site. If you are a bit techie, you can even create your own just as easily.

Again, if you are a bit techie, and have some knowledge in PHP, you can even tweak an existing theme and/or plugin to your need.

Upgrading

One of the biggest issue that was told to me by a friend of mine who is a Joomla user, is the version compatibility. He said (there are times) that when you upgrade Joomla to a newer version, your existing site or theme might no longer work. Thus you might need to rebuild the site or the theme.

This may also happen in WordPress, but themes can easily be switched and plugins disabled if there are compatibility issues.

I have seen some social network sites that are running on WordPress, and I was amazed on its capability.

On a personal note, I have experienced lately that you can easily create an online store complete with different payment method, Credit Card, PayPal etc... in WordPress.

Not to mention, WordPress has a huge community support all over the web. There are tons of Web and YouTube tutorials that could teach you almost everything about WordPress.

Joomla is much more powerful but harder to learn.
For a really complex eCommerce or SaaS site consider Joomla.
But for a basic site, even with multiple sections WordPress is well known, easy to learn and becoming more and more powerful.

So I like Joomla but WP is great (but with everything, please make sure your choice meets your scope)

WordPress!! Years ago it was viewed as just a blogging platform. Now, it's beyond that. Almost anything done online can be done or connected to WordPress.

As wordpress is more popular than Joomla, it has a stronger community support. So if you face any problem with wordpress, it shouldn't be a problem to find an answer to it. Plus, wordpress is VERY easy to install. I think these are the main advantages for every beginner.
