Hello everyone,

I want to know what you think is the best way to advertise your web hosting company. I am currently advertising on google Adwords but I don't get any results.

Any recommendations?

Thanks! :)

Have a great one!

I would recommend using forums and social networks, make sure that you will chose sites that related to your fields, it will more effective. For example, if you are promoting web design services, you should choose Linkedin and webmasters, web design forums, there are more people there may be interested in your offers.

Update regularly on forum. Also check facebook advertising. Content and keyword matters. Do some research before going for next.

well for us the objective would be to engage and post meaningful posts (not necessarily starting threads) but maybe answering questions, providing insight..ect. contribute to communities (not to sell, illicit..ect) just provide great content and by default, sometimes people looking for services will see your signature and click on the links and make a purchase. Or, some people find your comments so useful that they decide to send you a direct message to inquire about other services. :)

Hard to say what best bang for the buck is. Hard these days to put up some Google ads and get instant conversions. You need to build up your social media presence and get people liking that content. As your audience grows you can then try and sell hosting to them. It's a tough market these days.

Go for organic results instead of paid ones
Increase forum discussions, social media postings, create unique blogs, etc.

How are you doing with your keywords? Is it a buyer keyword, competitor keywords etc? When doing AdWords you might want to do a careful keyword research and a little bit spying on your competitor's ads (what keywords they use for their ads).

Go speak to the local businesses. You have better chance to get them as clients than others who they don't know.

When we first started in 1997, we got most of our clients by approaching the local government agencies that assist small businesses (who then promoted us to the local businesses as we provided very competitive 'solutions' to them), and of course to the chambers of commerce for the same things. It is really quite surprising just how many small to medium enterprises still have very little idea how to safely and cost effectively achieve their IT needs. Google will only help you put the icing on the cake, unless your budget runs into the many thousands of USD per month for a heavy-hitting campaign... then thats a different matter.

Hello, Ender! If you asked me, I'd have to say that the most important part of advertising is your brand positioning and your product uniqueness. You're one in a million if you sell regular VPS on regular hardware, you have a common control panel which you've bought (smth. like whmcs or hostbill), you have ordinary functionality and one or two server locations. Your only competitive advantages will be price (the main thing), uptime and support service quality. Almost all paid advertising channels will be not paid off, I assume. There are forums, social networks community development and other unpaid advertising channels which can help you. It only works if you support a community, answer forums questions and make social networks communications methodically, professionally and if you use also other marketing mechanics. A completely different story begins with your own software development, integration of exclusive control panel made by your developers, API for developers, unique functionality, new hardware, and new technologies. If you have a unique product or one of a few at least, you can use paid advertising channels and get some good results from your target audience. Be unique in your field. Show your best on service. Good luck!

If you are promoting the website with the help of Google Adwords. sure you will get the result very fast but the paid result is not stable on the SERP. You must work on your website organically as an SEO. If you will do work organic it will get result stable on your website.

To encapsulate what others have said; Advertising is often the last step - find your niche, optimize keywords, plan SEO, review user UX - THEN advertise!
I have found forums to be a good form of advertising, but you will need more than that to effectively reach out to fully get in front of your market.

I very much agree. Advertising a website which has bugs like broken links, incorrect information and UI/UX issues is just silly - a waste of time. There's plenty of ways to get such issues taken care of too (i.e. monitoring error logs, making it easy for visitors to report bugs, and so on).

I'm just advertising on Facebook. I have a 3 prong strategy. First I built up our page with some unique content. I've just been posting business related motivational thoughts and quotes. Then my 3 prongs are:

1) Simple ad to promote the website.
2) An advert to promote our page. Gets people to "like" the page.
3) Promote a post.

When people like the promoted post I invite them to like the page. I set up the first ad to promote the page about 6 hours ago. I'm getting an insane 3:1 engagement to like ratio. As of writing this 177 people engaged, 64 have liked our page. It has cost me 11c so far. I'm running all ads on a $10 per week budget to see how it goes. I might have to scale this up.

177 people reached mean not 177 people clicked and visit your website or viewed your service. I spend same amount in the past and could get more reaches than you but it is quite not effective for my website to have traffic from Facebook.

It means 177 people were shown the ad and 64 people liked the page. I now have 150 page like in a day for $2. Seems like a cheap way to build the page to me.

Don't forget that as hosts we should put our clients first so along with advertising we should also post tips and guides to educate users as well

A host that doesn't market effectively is not going to survive more than a year. Maybe two. Most hosts do not survive because they don't understand this.

I'd say social channels and the forums should be first. Once you have the start, developing a good affiliate program could help to improve your numbers as well.
However, quality service is the key, the word will spread naturally.

You should try SEO - PPC Doesn't benefits in starting phase when your website doesn't have presence in organic result.
First do some SEO practice and increase your website presence in organic.

SEO is long process and it will give you benefits for long time so keep patience and work hard.

if you want to work on PPC then follow these rules -

Search keywords in depth
Search negative keywords in depth - sometime negative keywords does work more than related keywords (Give priority both them)

SEO definitely is the best method but if it is free method, you will spend more time and effort for it, vice versa, paid methods are pretty expensive if you don't have a good budget. What method will you choose?
