Is anyone using Plesk hosting control panel? I am using cPanel and going to move to Plesk because its price is cheaper and i heard that it is lighter than cpanel if using on a VPS because it consumes less RAM. What is the response time of a Plesk server?

Hello,

According to their hardware minimal requirements, Plesk is lighter than cPanel.
The main difference with Plesk is Nginx used as a reverse-proxy in front of Apache to handle static files. It provide better performance than Apache only, without removing .htaccess support.

But I'm not able to compare the response time between Plesk and cPanel. It depend at first of the server used, but also on the configuration of the control panel.

For me there is no noticeable difference in terms of Control Panel response time for both. But never expect the whoe system will work faster in a 512M system; you always need better configuration to respond faster. If you are moving only because cPanel respond slower, there is something really wrong with your server. I have never seen any servers with slow cPanel response; it's always been great! But Plesk does provide some interesting features and software integrations, which may be more exciting for people.

I read a post on this forum and someone said cPanel needs around 2GB of RAM to install it and it is minimum requirement for a VPS. Is that correct?
And Plesk only needs 1GB of RAM and you can use without any issues.

For a clean installation with similar configuration :
- on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Plesk use 390MB RAM
- on Centos 7.4 cPanel use 471MB RAM
I am wondering why when uploaded websites on cPanel and run them then websites on Plesk are running smoother. Do modules load better than on cPanel?

cPanel has a minimum requirement of 768MB for CentOS6 and 1GB for CentOS7 with a recommended amount of 1GB for 6 and 2GB for Cent7

I'm not sure if you're saying they run better on cPanel, or that they run better on Plesk?

cPanel with EA4 is a bit easier to install and manage apache & php modules and is RPM based.
