I just reformatted my laptop computer and now I'm having trouble running accurately with my browsers. Videos from various sites is giving only a sad face emoticon and telling me to install or update the plugins. I tried to reinstate the previous version of all my browsers but still didn't worked at all. Can someone give some tips or advise on what should I do next?

Chrome started blocking flash content, if the videos you are trying to watch are embedded with a flash viewer they won't be shown.
You can configure your Chrome browser to allow flash content by clicking the lock/info icon on the left of the web address bar, then click the arrows right of "Flash" and choose always allow on this site.

I have a few plugins on my Google Chrome.
I mostly used them because they help me watch videos online or for gaming.
So far, I have not had a single issue when it comes down to plugins I use.It is mostly because they come from a trusty source and do not occupy a lot of space.
They stay quiet and are only activated when visiting site you activated them for.
I would suggest having a few plugins that are safe, while others, mostly offered ''on force'' by other websites, should not be installed.

Some malicious browser plugins have the potential to harm the system and the software that is installed on it. They create difficulties with web browser stability, frequent errors, and performance. Such behavior may also harm certain trustworthy programs and genuine browser add-ons. Malicious browser plugins may compromise Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and other popular online browsers.
So beware of these kinds of plug-ins and extensions before installing them on your device.
