My client asked me that he wanted to build a music site but the domain name he wanted with .com then it is taken by someone, so he would start with .mp3 domain extension but I don't know if this extension is available and if yes, will it a good choice for a music site? any comments?

I would not go for MP3 even if it would exist (which I could not find today). MP3 is a music format which might be replaced in the future. I would go with the domain .MUSIC which is there, makes more sense maybe and if you are lucky your favorite domain name is still free

Why you think it will be replecaed in the future while It has been existed in decades.

I would go with the domain .MUSIC which is there, makes more sense maybe and if you are lucky your favorite domain name is still free
It is a great choice that I have not thought about, I will suggest this domain extension to my client.

Thanks for sharing.

Just a quick note, since it is s format describing only one possible Audio format we never know what will bring the industry. We know that in the movie industry ACC encoding is most used and not MP3. However also in the streaming formats other formats are more common than MP3. If you want to make DRM (Digital Rights Management) for your Audio file the format also might change. Sony for example uses today in some cases already the extension ATP which is rights protected.

I don't think there is dot mp3 domain available. However, you can redister a domain with dot radio extension. If the site primarily features auido (music streaming or mp3 download), I think using dor radio is very help ful because it is very easy to optimize your website for search engines). Having said that domain extension does not matter in search engine index, therefore, you can use any domains you want.

Yeah you are right, I re-search and mp3 domain extension is not available on the market at this time.
.radio is available but it is not in my need because it is different from .mp3 domain. With a .mp3 domain I can build a music site and everyone can listen to music there but with .radio then it is impossible.
