Hi guys!

I am curious on the efficiency of Cloud Hosting. Can I benefit from it, when it comes to price? Is it cheaper than the VPS Hosting? I mean I am asking all these questions as if I know the technical aspects of Cloud or even VPS Hosting. Can somebody give me the Layman's Term of Cloud Hosting, and how it will benefit someone in the eCommerce business.

If I am a small eCommerce business just starting to make it big, which one is viable Cloud Hosting or web hosting? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of both to help me decide on what is best for my company.

CloudHosting is efficient in terms of performance, stability and scalability compared to VPS hosting. When these parameters increase, of course you will have to pay more and its not cheaper than VPS.

Main advantage for ecommerce website in cloudhosting is autoscalability. Suppose you are running an commerce site and you had a promotions on a specific day and you expect double or triple visitors to your site. When you release the offers, visitors from different locations will be trying to purchase your product and ofcouse your server will get overloaded due to the amount to resources that is not sufficient to handle that traffic. In the case of cloud hosting, you will have an option to enable auto scaling and when the traffic increases, your server will automatically scaled with extra resource and your users won't have any performance issues on your website while trying to purchase. When the promotions are expired, traffic will be low and your VPS will be automatically scaled down.

I would suggest you to start with normal hosting and when you have enough clients or traffic, it would be good to move to cloud hosting. If you have good budget for your website, its recommended to start it on cloud hosting. Note that it will be expensive compared to normal hosting.

There are lot of advantages and disadvantages for cloud hosting. You can check the following the URL with more details about it.

Off-course, cloud hosting will be costlier than the VPS hosting service. Cloud hosting service will have the on demand resource allocation. There is harder security setup on the cloud hosting service.

Main principle of cloud hosting is divide as per the need. Cloud used to distribute the required resources on multiple servers as used them as per the requirement. There are multiple servers work together. If one server fails then other will start loading the same task without any delay. Cloud is nothing but the one larger storage space and processor.

Here are the some of the advantages of cloud hosting for you -

1. Accessibility - Main advantage of cloud hosting is that the files are accessible anywhere and anytime. You can access the files when you would like to access without matter of place.

2. Backup facility - Cloud hosting service always have the copy of your data on the the server. So in the case of disaster, you will have the copy of data even if the data on the main server get deleted or lost.

3. Low cost solution - You will need to pay just the amount for the storage which you are actually using.

4. Secure service - You don't have to worry about the security. Cloud hosting provider will have the best infrastructure on which you don't need to worry about the security , they have their setup for security.

5. High degree of uptime

Yes definitely,

Cloud hosting becomes more and more powerful than the traditional hosting. Although many people have questioned their security on the cloud, I haven't had any problem with it. I really think that it's something that you should look into when it comes to business perspective. I know that if you don't want to spend a lot of money hosting your website, then cloud hosting should be the best bet.
Hope it helps,

Savings is the number one Advantage Businesses and organizations can often reduce annual operating costs by using cloud storage; cloud storage costs are between 1 to 5 cents U.S. per gigabyte, that's to store data internally. Users can see additional cost savings because it does not require internal power to store information remotely.

@Theresapaz The most important question is ca you afford to use a Cloud server? If you get spend $35 - $40 per month for a high quality Cloud server, you will increase your e-commerce website performance and reliability. The I/O should be also better and your website will work fast (land fast on web browsers).
