If .com is taken you can go for alternatives like .org/.net and more or less it depends what kind of website it is like if hosting related .com/.org/.net or .hosting will be good.

Hi Recordeon,

.io is very trendy now. Many new tech brand are using this domain now.
.me is Ok if is for a personal project or portfolio (photograph, designer, architect...)
.online - carefull. This domain, and many others, is used a lot for SPAM activities and google might penalise the SEO (do you know any .online website that ranks high?...). also take attention with the renewal price.
.website - same opinion as .online
.im is also a domain i see many new projects using. Give a look at his price and good luck!

You are right on this but I didn't like using .org or .net and I don't know reason why but they are not in my option when .com is taken.

Another popular trend is to make your domain fit into the TLD. For example http://bit.ly

.tech is also starting to be popular.

.Net , .Io , .Me ( personal site ) are the best alternatives, tho I would suggest trying to find an available .com domain alternative, rather than finding an alternative domain extension

If your site relates to techniques then .IO is the best choice for start-ups now. Such as my site, eCoupon.io, it's in domain & hosting coupon market then I choose .IO for beginning. It's also a good alternative for .COM. IMO

When you are choosing a replacement domain extension, you should look at the registration price as well as renewal price. If you want to get dot io, you will have to pay $35. You can register dot online and dot website for less than a dollar on namecheap, however, you will havr to pay $32 to renew dot online and $19 to renew dot website. I believe you would not want to pay high price for renewal. Which domain extension you want to taks also should depend on your niche. I think using extension that cost less to register or renew will be a better idea.

If you want .COM but it was take already you have more other choices of extension in Godaddy.com. Just visit that website and choose the extension you want. It offers as low as 0.99$ monthly. You can either renew or not renew the domain you choose. It is very friendly user and you can organize your website very well.

You may choose from other top level domains like .net, .org. These top level domains have specific areas for the type of website you are registering. however, you may also consider other sub level domains.

I'd go with .net. I don't know, somehow the domain you listed make your site kinda look like a sketchy one. I know most people wouldn't buy anything from a .online website.
