Good Morning,

I am the owner of a celebrity blog and forum, I have approached a company selling and buying online businesses (BizBroker24), they told me that my site is worth between 2.5x 3.5x multiple.

I really would like to sell it as soon as possible.

Can you guys give me a confirmation about the metric and system used to evaluate my website?

What do you think about it? Would you sell it for this amount?

Hello alex_rost91, it's pretty hard to estimate the value of a website. Some metrics :
- alexa.com to estimate the traffic
- majestic.com to measure the value of your domain on SEO side.-

But in my opinion, when someone want to buy your website, it's because they think they will earn more than they will pay you.

It depends on the rank of your website and initial design and development cost you have invested for your website. If the rank of your website is in between the first 10 sites in Google search then cost of website will be high.

A website (and everything else) is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.

People can give you their idea, or use their 'formula' to estimate the value, but the only thing that matter is the the price on offers you receive.

Why would someone WANT to buy your blog?
How would it benefit them ($$)?
With your current income & expenses, how long would it take then to receive a Return on their investment?

You alone know how much you have invested in this site, both financially and building of the site. You must also be conscious of the site ranking and how much traffic it attracts.
Your scenario is like an Athlete and his Manager trying to know the worth of the Athlete,When you consider all the time and effort,You will know when the price is good(that is if you are not desperate to sell).

I know about a company that analyze the commercial value of a website. It is called Empire Flippers and the company predicts the vale of your website based on the traffic, ads placed on the website etc. I have never used this but they say it is a provides a good analysis of your site.

Generally, The rule of thumb of value of your website :

Domain name ( This is usually nothing, unless you have a premium domain name like taxi.com or something real good )
Profit per month through sales/ads.

Domain name value + ( profit per month x 10 months ) = business value, as most companies would want to get a return from their investment within a year, and to earn $$ after that.

This value is what MOST business would really want to buy you off, not one that counts your value, but does not offer a price for it.
