I personally us Brackets since it's pretty lightweight, has a big userbase that produces many plugins for it and it's just responsive. I used Atom 2 in the past but I didn't like it as much, the design didn't seem as good as Brackets'. I also used Prepros as my preprocessor of choice.

I believe atom and brackets are the top text editors available right now along with sublime text. As you have used the other two, I'll tell the benefits of sublime text (my personal choice).

It is best in the market right now. Comes with a variety of features and is lightweight like the most text editors and offers powerful features of most IDEs (integrated development environments). There are a lots of features so you never get bored.

I have a window os , I use sublime text editor and sometimes notepad++ , but befre I've tried using dreamweaver it was good but you have to do a lot of exploring the functions for you to maximize using it.

I like that sublime has a lot of auto complete text for programming functions unlike notepad++ .

I used to use Notepad++ on Windows then when I moved to Mac I used Brackets and now I use Atom as it's like the other two but it's made and supported by Github.

Before in my college days I usually used eclipse since it was popular and that's also the code editor we used in school. At the first year of my work as a web developer coding with java/jsp we also used eclipse in our company. When we start coding with javascript in eclipse we noticed that javascript in eclipse is slow our changes in css file also not immediately feels the change. We will need to restart our server first and rebuild the project in order to see the changes we made. Then we decide to look for another code editor, we tried sublime and we like to use it. You can code immediately in sublime whatever language you like.

In terms of text editor, I always prefer sublime text editor. Its nice not that fancy but it works really great, it doesn't get lots of resources of your computer, the look and feel of this editor is really professional.

And also this tool is very lightweight, you don't need a fast computer just to run this, unlike Dreamweaver.

+1 to Notepad++. I have worked with several people in the IT field, and I also notice most of them using this app. I like it because of its lightweight nature, flexibility, and it's under GPL. Usability-wise, I don't think I will be able to work without it. I mainly do debug logging, and having the "Find in document" function is heaven-sent. The "Compare" plugin is also very helpful when doing side-by-side comparison of config files and the likes.

I use notepad++ for most of my coding. I use atom sometimes just to feel fancy but my main environment is notepad++. Highly recommended.
I saw in this thread sublime mentioned, can you give me an idea about why you use it? I might actually try it ...

The choice of mine is sublime text. It allows to split screen, e.g. it's convenient if you work with HTML+CSS. Also there is plenty of plugins for it. Actully i've never used any other editor, as sublime meets all my needs :) :)

I use Notepad++ as my main text editor. I like the features and the simplicity it provides. It's also lightweight so I don't have to worry about it crashing or causing my system to lag. This is what I like most about FOSS software. I've also downloaded Sublime text but never got around to using it. After hearing these recommendations I might just do it today!

Also, I use Vim for doing C++ coding in Linux. Has anyone tried using it for web development?

My best choice are Notepad++ and Sublime text! For me, this 2 helps me more in creating HTML or other worktext. I love using them because they are so handy and they will guide you on your task.
