I am using Centos 6 on a VPS and planning to switch to Centos 7 on a new VPS, I don't want to compare all aspects of Centos 6 and Centos 7 but I only wanto know between Centos 6 and Centos 7, which one has better performance?

Thanks in advance
Chris

I have not done a benchmark yet between V6 and V7, but there are many other factors that is more exciting about CentOS 7. New things like Systemd which can improve reboot speed, firewalld, Kernel version 3, updated libraries packages, seamless upgrade to future versions etc makes it already exciting. But I have read somewhere feedbacks like, CentOS 7 is perforimg more optimaly for memory management though I haven't run such tests yet. So far for all servers which I moved to CentOS7, I am not seeing any bottleneck and quite happy with them so far.

As CentOS 7 is the newest platform, users will be able to utilize a more impenetrable firewall and anti-Spam program

I've used CentOS 6 for cPanel. The best part is that there had never been an issue. The "performance" shall simply matter with what software you've compiled with it.

I have assumed that the newer C7 would have better performances, or at least on-par with it's predecessor, not worse. I'm now looking for how to tune it to perform better. Thanks!

CentOS is based on the stable RHEL platform. So choose the newer version for more updated packages and features .

Personally I have not noticed any difference, both have same performance. CentOS 7 comes with better and newer packages and eventually one day you have to move to CentOS 7 so why not make that day today.
