Terms of service & privacy policy are very important When starting an online company. Is it a good practice to write it by yourself or outsource it.
Who has written this before and how do you go about it?

I think terms and conditions are vital to any market, or online platform. Without them there's a risk of certain discrepancies and loopholes that certain individuals may take an unfair advantage of. For any service or product, it's advisable to provide relevant terms of service, so that no ill-intentioned person may exploit them.

When it comes to writing, it's always better to hire a professional who has got relevant experience in the field and who knows what they're doing. Also when providing with the details that you want to include in your terms and conditions policy, it's always better to include all essential points of use of the service or products, along with the situations where such terms maybe broken and so will call for termination of certain services. It is always better to be clear about these things.

You don't need to hire anyone and spend money to create a T&C's document.
If you are reselling, your T&C's are the same of your upstream provider. You can not allow porn websites and the company that is reselling to your doesn't allowed. They will cancel your account. If you are using a VPS i recommend you look at the T&C's from other reputable hosting companies, and adjust to your own company.
Please note: there are things that are allowed in some countries, and others that are not. Good luck!

Yes, you should definitely do it if you're looking for professionalism in your terms and conditions page. However, if you think you're capable of handling it yourself then do your best and work on it. If you have even a slightest doubt then don't do it yourself, or spoil everything by trying; instead just hire a professional and let them handle it. You can look for such professionals on any freelancer sites such as fiverr, elance, and so on. The best thing is that you could always check their work samples before having to be paid. That way you could determine which works suit you well and which do not. It saves a lot of time and money. So, best of luck and have a nice day, and keep up your good work.

Hello
Thanks, this is good for those who are reselling on the website. I understood everything here but while using your reseller terms of service you need to edit it to suit yours in order to make it more professional.

Yes, I agree with you, freelance websites are the best place to see professionals this day. And the fact of seeing their sample first before telling them to go ahead is the best thing about freelance sites especially Fiverr.
Thanks for your feedback.

I have never written terms of service and privacy policy for my websites. I always use privacy policy and terms of service generator tools. When rhe tool generates privacy policy and terms of service, I will rewrite the content in order to make them sound like they were originallyb written for my site.

For your privacy policy it will probably not be a problem, but terms of service cannot be generated automatically. At first because you can't use the same terms of service depending on the country you are living, but also because for any product or service, it must describe any particular condition.

I agree about the fact than you can find professional on freelance website, but please do not consider Fiverr as a freelance website. Any work have a price, and nobody can work for $5.

@VirtuBox Fiverr does not necessarily only charge $5. There are ways that people find to increase their fees.

I think nearly all terms and conditions are standard. I also don't think you need someone to draft them for you. Just look at the terms and conditions from a number of similar websites to yours. You can add any other conditions you think you specifically need on your website. Even for this, you can find an already drafted clause. This is known as a precedent in the legal world

Privacy policies may be universal but for you to ensure that there would be no loopholes, you must consider asking assistance from experts as lawyers or legal writers. There may be important terms you need to include but you are not really aware of or you cannot put into legal tone.
And of course there is nothing better than understanding your own policy.
