I'm quite curious, how many people actually read the Terms of Service when they sign up for web hosting?

As I remembered then I read it when a hosting provider mentioned about money back guarantee and I had to visit their terms of service page to check that carefully
because I wanted to be sure their service is quality and in the case if it is low quality service then I can get my money back.

In the other words, I will check that page if the provide has some special rules when using their services. That's for sure if you don't want to get any issues when using a new hosting provider.

In my experience, 96% of end user doesn't read
How you know there are 96% of end users did't read terms of service :D

Usually they read when you suspend the account.

I laughed when I saw your comment. I guess it does make sense.

Personally, I make it a point to understand the company's policies before signing up to prevent any long-term issues.

Normally when you get suspended for your account then the hosting provider will alert you by a message.
You could know the reason there why you get suspended hence you could not need to read terms of service.
for examples:
Unpaid bill
High RAM
Exceeding your storage and bandwidth limits
etc.

I'm pretty sure most end users never really the terms of service, totally agree with the above statement that they read them only once their account is suspended.

Regarding the hosting industry, its atleast a good idea to partially read the terms of service, making sure what you're planing to host is not against the hosts TOS.

Honestly, I don't read them and I think I'm not alone haha. Even though I know its important but its just that its too long and I'm not that kind of a person that reads lengthy details. But I get back to the terms of service to look for support when I get difficulties and check details of things they promoted me that I remember. Now, that I read the above post. I will start reading them before its too late because I'm afraid for my service to be suspended. Thank you everyone!

In my opinion, most of the people don't read the Terms and Service as they are too long and sometimes they are written in a very complicated way. And, people think what's the point of reading all this after I won't be able to comprehend it. And to be honest, I read ToS just partially.

i find it very hectic and strenuous to read terms and conditions of any goods or service. In most cases i tend to quickly scan through just picking key words or statement on the usually long note.

Yes, it's always a good habit to study all the terms and conditions before you signup for anything or before buying any product or service. Sometimes we may not read such things and later suffer when we are faced with a problem. Many guidelines are also mentioned in them, so it becomes necessary to at least go through them once.

Because most people don't read the conditions set by any company (hosting company in this case) they may later waste their times and efforts and have problems when getting their issues resolved. If the terms were read beforehand such issues would have been avoided.

As someone who reviews contracts on a daily basis, I find it essential to read the contract terms and conditions before committing to any service or product. It is kind of our responsibility as a user or potential buyer to be clear on the contract contents before confirming any purchase transaction.

Some people may find it tedious to do this but they will end up with more problems later on with the vendor or seller. This does not only apply to web hosting but also for any purchase be it for our business or personal use.

I know that a large number of people don't read the terms of service when using a website but its always best to read it if you can because there can be things within them that you don't expect which can cause issues later on.

I read them partially to have a general idea about what are the rules but I definitely don't read them in detail. A lot of stuff sounds to complicated, so I don't understand it anyway. I wish they would write the terms in plain language so that everyone can read and understand them.

I agree with this, because most companies write their terms and conditions in a way that is hard to understand (ex. Use of complicated words or Acronyms without legends), redundant, and long statements that are confusing.
Therefore writing a company's terms and conditions in plain language and not making it lengthy will encourage users and consumers to read it. Both the owner and his customers can avoid inconvenience and benefit from simplified terms and conditions.

But whether a company or a site's terms and conditions is written "creatively" in a way that is confusing or simplified should not stop us from reading and understanding it. Reading it will save us from frustration and disappointment.

Sometimes I don't read them. Most of the time I read them partially. It's kind of annoying that they always use legal terms and stuff that is not easy to understand. But I think it's important to at least have an idea about what's written there, specially if there is money involved. When that's the case, the responsible thing to do is to read them.

I think the honest answers is no. People only ever refer to the t's and c's when they are making a complaint or something goes wrong

I don't read the whole terms of service, I just get the general idea about it. because before I sign up in any web hosting I do a little research about it and read some of the reviews about it.

I never read the Terms of Service because they are are pretty much the same. And I thoroughly research my webhost before I sign up. So I don't have to worry about if they are going to be scumbags and cancel my hosting on me. And 99.99% of the time the TOS is there to stop problematic users from causing problems and I am not a problematic user so I have nothing to worry about.

I think most of us are never reading the terms of services because it's too long and just want to use the software immediately. When I install a software I watch some reviews on youtube to have a ideas and knowledge of how it works. So I guess reading the terms and services is not a big deal anymore.
