Hello, you might have a forum session on your Wordpress blog. The question is, which forum machine you are using and can you connect it to your WordPress blog? I think to connect the forum machine with the Wordpress blog is an important thing if you enable comment system on your blog' content. Meanwhile, WordPress has its forum plugin called bbpress. If you are using a BBpress for the forum session of your blog, then connecting your blog to the forum is a simple thing to do. But what if you use such as vBulletin, SMF, and another forum machine? Can you connect it? If so, what to you used to connect it?

Yes the last one that I have ever tried on my Wordpress is bbpress but after installed it, I had to remove it because it lacks of functions to manage users, posts, links...etc like other popular forum CMS did. BBpress is simple and free and you can have it easily by installing it in some steps. But if you are going to develop a forum discussion for a long term then I would recommend you go with a free or paid forum software as SMF, PHPBB, MYBB or better is Xenforo, vBulletin or IPB.

Can you connect it? If so, what to you used to connect it?
If you need to connect it, they already have plugins to do this task.
Just searching it and you find out more.

Right now I am running Wordpress and Xenforo with a Wordpress & Xenforo bridge. And its pretty seamless and my members don't even know that it's two different softwares that run the website. The program I use is called Xenword and Wordpress users log in from Xenforo and Xenforo makes a wordpress account for every new member. So far it's been rock solid stable and has not given me a single problem.

I tried all of them but I can not tell you which is the best because each one has its advantages and you need to try it to find out which one is the most suitable for you.
You should try their demo and test, test, test...see how it works, from there you will know which one is the best for you.
Oh...! I see. I should run the test!

No, I don't have one connected with my blogs. I do have a separate forum website for it, where users can interact and exchange valuable information, they can even leave their suggestions, complaints, or report other bugs or fixes. This has certainly helped with the growth of my web related products and services. Why don't I use them with blogs? Because they tend to get messy, have no more functions or plugins, and make the blog tiresome to deal with. It's always better to separate things out. If your people have certain comments they want to make about your blogs, then they can do the same in the comment box. That way it becomes more manageable and neat. That's my personal preference, by the way.

I don't have a forum or any discussion board on my wordpress blog. However, I once created a subdomain for my wordpress blog with a hope of starting a forum. I even installed MyBB and was ready to launch the forum. The forum was expected to be a part of the travel blog and it was a discussion board for travel discussion. later I found that it is really hard to bring members to the forum and make them active. Furthermore, I also needed to promote my forum as well as blog. Later, I deleted the forum.
