Okay guys this is a major newbie stuff so please bear with me. :p

I am working up on a website together with a friend. And as we were trying it out on different units, we found out that some of the sizes on the other browsers that we tried to view it, doesn't seem to fit? Is 800x600 still the required resolution or we should stick with 1024 X 768?

Cheers!

You can create a responsive layout which will adjust to fit any screen size. This just means using CSS to change the sizes and positioning of the elements in your layout to fit the screen or the browser window of the user. It's not that hard to do and you can find a lot of good tutorials on YouTube and Google.

I would second m19. Easiest approach to responsive sites is using frameworks like bootstrap or foundation. The bootstrap being the popular one will help you makes sites in couple of hours. Feel free to contact me if you need further help.

I don't think one resolution fits all. And that's the reason why i think you should use the responsive website design. You can make use of the HTML and CSS which is more suitable for the responsive design. For example, Bootstrap and Foundation framework are just like that. You can use these frameworks and see if that helps your resolution issue. There are some browser testing sites which you can use for checking different resolution and rendering.
