Is it possible to install cPanel on localhost to test somethings out? I've just thought about this idea but not sure it can be done or not.

cPanel requires a public facing IP address to be installed. You can use the 15 day trial however. https://cpanel.com/trial/

As far as I am aware you cannot. You should have a public facing IP address configured on the system, which the cPanel will relay to check and validate your license. Please check https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/ALD/Installation+Guide+-+System+Requirements for more details about the requirements to function cPanel. As suggested above, you can get free 15 days trial once installed [ you should make sure that your server IP address isn't used for trial before ]. So get a cheap VPS , install cPanel on it and do your testing; that my be the best option for you. Good Luck!

If you have a static IP and access to change the RDNS for your IP then no problem.

Agreed and even you can install it on a localhost then I think it will have more problems happen because cPanel is designed to install on a hosting, not a localhost.

As cPanel/WHM software is designed for commercial web hosting companies, there are currently no personal use licenses available for the software so there still no any option for localhost installation

I'd like to answer As cPanel/WHM software is designed for commercial web hosting companies, there are currently no personal use licenses available for the software.

However, if you are looking to gain experience with cPanel/WHM, one great way to do this is to acquire a hosting or reseller account with a web hosting provider that uses our software and set up a website or two.

Many hosting providers post offers to these forums. Additionally, you can find companies that offer reseller hosing by doing an internet search for cPanel Reseller Hosting.

HTH!

I agree with Jackleo7878 cPanel becomes part of a software application collection called cPanel & WHM which gives capabilities for administrators, resellers, as well as end-user website proprietors to manage the different aspects of site as well as server management via a standard web internet browser utilizing a three-tier structure.

To install cPanel on a localhost, you would need to set up a server environment on your local machine as cPanel is primarily designed for server environments and is typically installed on web hosting servers. There are software packages available that can help you create a local server environment such as XAMPP (for Windows, macOS, and Linux) or MAMP (for macOS). These packages provide the necessary components (e.g., Apache, MySQL, PHP) to create a local web server.

The installation process may be more complex compared to installing it on a dedicated server or a hosting provider's server. It may require additional configurations and adjustments to make it work in the localhost environment.

Keep in mind that the functionality of cPanel may be limited in a localhost setup since it relies on server-specific features and services. But you can still gain some familiarity with the cPanel interface and its basic functionalities for testing and learning purposes. But purchasing a shared hosting for testing purposes is highly recommended.
