If you are interested in developing website templates, it seems as if WordPress would be most lucrative software to learn. WordPress uses PHP language and connects with a database.

Start with HTML & CSS, thats all once you do not need to learn php or mysql it will be waste of time if you only want to create templates.

As everyone has already said, start off with HTML, CSS learn the basics well then move onto something more complex and build up your knowledge that way. WordPress is always a great place to start as its usually quite cost effective for getting sites turned around in a decent timeframe.

I started with WordPress, and quickly moved on to using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create dynamic web pages. Bootstrap's library helps with the framework and jQuery's library makes JavaScript much quicker to pump out.

I am learning from an ebook and it say MYSQL needs a programming language to interact with and display data.

It is hard to learn CSS in theory although I downloaded some ebooks about this language.

Searched for Bootstrap and it is a css framework, how can I write my own css codes if I use it?

Frameworks and templates are two different things. Bootstrap gives you a grid so that you don't have to create your own containers for content. You can create a template by using the Bootstrap framework. You still have to create some content (HTML) and you would still want to style it with CSS, otherwise you wouldn't have much of a product. I'm not necessarily encouraging you to use it for your own templates, but there are people who do it and web sites that will teach you how. I would suggest Googling "creating templates with Bootstrap" to give you a better idea. I hope this helps answer your question

Start with html and css, for creating templates you only need the two. You can even download free web templates online. There are lot of websites that you can download free web templates and use it as your guide in designing or creating web templates. When I'm starting web designing, I download free web templates online and study them, I used them as an additional idea and guide.

Is WordPress easy to learn? I do php in dreamweaver then connect in database using wamp/xamp. Do you think WordPress is lot easier to use when connecting to a database?

Getting to the stage of a professional web developer is nt hard, however you will need to change your mindset. It will not be as quick as you might want it but I bekieve that it will pay on the long run. I also on the mission of becoming a web developer, I am now confident in HTML and CSS and I know I still have to learn JavaScript, php and Mysql. If you know those languages, youve got the right skills to begin with.

To be a web developer, you should start with the basic. I'm not good at this but I can share you some. You should start in reading some articles about HTML. HTML is part of web developing so make sure that you will be familiarize with this. This is one of the best way to start to be a better web developer.

HTML is very basic and I think I can learn it for a day, but anyway it also helps to build dynamic websites if you are going to build one with PHP and Mysql. Since posted this question, I learned more from other people on the forum and training courses that I bought online via training websites as Lynda or W3Schools.

I think it depends, you could obviously learn yourself via the internet. You'd get the basic idea since there's lots of guides and tutorials online.
I even made my own website once, long time ago. Used notepad for it, and then proceeded to Visual C++ 2010/8 (don't remember exactly). I was really impressed by my own work, I still remember the excitement I had to this day.

Obviously we can start learning and becoming a web developer by learning everything from internet but at least, at the beginning point, we need to have basic knowledge about programming, that should be teached from a teacher.

My idea of how to become a developer. First, you need a knowledge, that means you apply in a quality school that gives quality education. Second is idea. To be a developer, you need to gain ideas, more ideas, and old and new ideas. Third is resource. Friends, family and co-developer is your resource. That is important on how to become a developer. And not just a developer, a good and well developer.

I would suggest, try setting up your own local wordpress site on your PC (You don't need to subscribe to any hosting or even pay for domains). Then there you can experiment with the Front end (Design/Looks/Feels) part of the website, which where html and css plays a big part. Then later on the back-end part of it which is SQL, which is responsible with Data or content you are inputting on your Websites. It may look complicated, but once you knew how much more you can do with coding, it'll be really interesting and fulfilling.

Good luck with studying.

Know what employers are looking for. Most companies wishing to hire a web developer will advertise for a person who has several qualifications. Many employers will want a web developer to hold a Bachelors degree in computer science.Computer science degrees prepare an individual by teaching them the skills needed for web development: programming, web design, database management, networking, and lieu of getting a degree, many web developers hold professional certifications. You can obtain these from community colleges, continuing education services, and several technology companies. For example, Microsoft offers a web development training course that requires you to pass an exam and hold 2-3 years of work experience. While having a degree or certification is most desirable, there are many freelance web developers in the market who are building successful business.

HTML is almost a must knowledge requirement. You may not need it in the future because there are many better ways to make a website, but it sure is handy to know it and figure out how other sites look and function.
Then there's also CSS, which mainly focusses on the overall looks of your site.
You can have a site without CSS, but not without HTML, however a HTML site looks like crap without CSS.
