These providers are offering good features on their dedicated servers and low prices. Should I try OVH or Hetzner dedicated server?

What are you requirements? Do you need a hefty amount of IP's?

If you require more IP's OVH might be the better choice.

From a hardware and network perspective both providers are solid, with OVH having a better global network.

OVH and Hetzner , both provides unmanaged servers and I hope you are aware of it. The pricing is quite cheap due to no server support. so if you are tech savy person , know how to manage the things you can surely go with these brands.

Hi Bryan, if you are looking for a good deal, you may want to check out our server auction. If you are patient and/or your timing is right, you can get a good dedicated root server for a low price and without setup fees. These servers are root servers, so they do not include any administrative support. That is also true for our vServers and our other dedicated servers. However, we also have managed servers, managed virtual servers, and web hosting packages.

I will not require more IPs, I need good uptime, fast loading servers with ssd. In this case, seem ovh fits my requirements but hetzner is offering better pricing.

I searched hetzner server auction and went to it, can it maintain the quality of servers if I buy there?

If you buy server from auction you will have 100% used drive 1-3 year old , and good if they haven't bad block , so after buy you must check each drive by smartctl for healthy also create all time backup to different DC or download to your home drive.

If you want quality -> you must pay for it.
If you want cheap -> you must safe your data yourself.

We use OVH for some overseas backup servers and have never been disappointed. Just make sure to use their phone support during an emergency as their ticket support is useless for anything important. And remember to be realistic with "you get what you pay for" with them.

As said above, OVH and Hetzner are both good however:

If you want multiple IP addresses, you should go for OVH as they're way easier with that. Hetzner wont provide you additional IP addresses in big amounts unless you really have a proper / valid reason.

However, in my opinion, the support Hetzner provides cannot be compared with OVH. They're way better.

Bryan McClure, If I understood your question correctly, you are concerned about the quality of the servers on the Hetzner Online auction. If you would like to speak to one of our technicians about the quality of the hardware and infrastructure for these servers, I recommend calling my colleagues in Product Advice (+49 (0)911 234226-927 - normal business hours in CET). They can give you lots of details and reassurance. For more info on IP addresses, see: https://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/IP-Adressen/en . Or you could start a new thread in this forum and ask your fellow users for their feedback.
RackService, Thanks for the positive feedback about our support! I will make sure to pass that on to my team. :) --Katie, Marketing

+1 for Hetzner. I have been using them for more than 18 Months & they always have been rock-solid to me. Still have 5+ Servers running, just smooth experience. But, OVH is also good. You can't go wrong with both parties actually.

I have a server with Hetzner at the moment, and I can vouch for them ! Support is very fast ( hardware/billing wise ) and they do not even bill you when your server is deployed, they let you test run it for a bit before charging you to see if the server meets your expectations ( server auctions )

1- OVH ip ONE time payment up tp 256 (2 euro) - hetzner max 32 (1 $ /mon)
2- OVH No setup and cheaper
3- Unlimited Bandwidth The speed limit is 500 MB - hetzner 1GB port
4- OVH Powerful anti-DDoS network - Hetzner very weak anti-Ddos

Hi AlbaHost and other readers, I would love to post a long and detailed explanation here regarding this case. However. I cannot post here any information about order requests because it would violate the Federal German Data Protection Act. We at Hetzner Online take data protection very seriously. --Katie, Marketing

If you cannot explain here due for German law, maybe you care to explain via email which you need to explain about "why or what" happened. That's very simply, and im sure any company is obligated to inform a customer about his/her orders.

EDIT: You can cancel mentioned order, not interested anymore.

It is not fair to keep somethings in secret.

I thought I will take one server from Hetzner but since I read this reply, I have to reconsider my decision.

Yeah, i understand about personal data protection in public i think this law is everywhere, but they should inform a customer about the order and his/her status. It has been more than 10 days ago and nothing from their side. Was gona to use mentioned order/server for backups nothing more. Anyway, we are OK with OVH no doubt.

They are competitors so price wise they are quite similar, however there are some services which are cheaper with each provider.

The Federal German Data Protection Act makes it difficult, or even impossible, at times for a web hosting company to defend itself on forums like this one.

If a customers mentions something in a thread about how terrible a German company is for whatever reason, that company is not allowed to even confirm that that user is, or was, one of their customers according to the law. So would be an even bigger violation of the law to explain that perhaps the customer was a "bad customer" in some way, whether it involved them not paying their invoices, sending out spam, etc.

Simply put, there are a long list of reasons why people complain on forums like this. Some of them are truly ligitimate complaints and we at Hetzner Online stive to fix those problems as quickly as possible. Some, however, are "bad customers" who are upset about no longer receiving service. I ask you to please take complaints that you read on forums with a grain of salt. --Katie, Marketing
