Shared hosting is quite limited when it comes down to I/O speeds and allocated resources in general. Therefore you should look for SSD VPS plans, which will have fast read/write speeds, however try to avoid OVH's line those are known for low read/write speeds. I have seen people run WooCommerce websites on VPS servers with 256Mb ram, the minimum requirement is around 64-128Mb, however that will depend on the amount of daily visitors and the amount of installed plugins.

I would suggest 1-2Gb Ram, just to be on the safe side and to keep some room for future expansions.

If your website is slow you are on the right track going with a VPS. A 1-2GB RAM VPS should be fine, but make sure to properly configure it and optimize it. Both the server and WordPress. Caching, compressions, CDN, Apache/Nginx/MySQL optimizations etc. If you don't know how to properly configure and optimize your WordPress server yourself, get a managed VPS and let them do it for you.

Avoid installing unnecessary plugins and of course, avoid HDD hosting. Only go with SSD.

I would recommend a Linux VPS. Although its more difficult to set up the server, there is more community support for Wordpress on Linux than on Windows (which is nice for some of the more nuanced issues that come up)

Start out on the low end. You can seamlessly upgrade as you need more power

shopping card plugins always require more RAM, are you sure this amount of RAM is enough for a hosting panel?

I am getting confused when choosing a caching solutionf for my wp site, i should install caching for my hosting or directly install on my wp site?

1-2Gb of ram is a good starting point, however a scalable VPS solution would work best, since you can updrage/downgrade your plan at anytime depending on your requirements.

You can do both, for wordpress I would suggest WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache. Regarding the web server cache it will depend on which web server you decide to go with. Varnish is a good solution when using Apache or Litemage for Litespeed webserver.

Theoretically speaking replacing Apache with Litespeed would already boost up the perfomance.

What really puts an impact on performance is the amount of VM's hosted on the node. If the node is heavly oversold you wont be able to use the allocated resources to their full potential.

Regarding the control panel and OS I would suggest CentOS with CentOS Web Panel, which is a free cPanel look-a-like. The latest versions are stable, secure and quite easy to use.

In response to my post you asked

Its impossible to say the exact numbers for each of those without detailed performance and baseline testing for your site as it is. Like I said start at the low end and upgrade as needed. RAM is probably the #1 criteria. With free Webmin as control panel start with a 1 GB plan. If you want to go with cPanel up it to 3 GB RAM. Many VPS hosts offer cPanel at low price and will install it for you.

1- Minimum resources needed Ram 1 GB cpu 1 core 1GHz hdd 40-60 GB
2- Properly configured web server Or 1 web panel (direct admin 3$/mon centos panel free)
CPanel is not economically for a site.

Simple and easy:
1 vCPU will do the job
2GB - 4GB ram ( I know why I saying that ;) )
20GB + Disk Space ( Better to work with company with Raid Controller or SSD Disks )
Oh yea, 1Gbps port and good DDOS security,

If you are asking me, go to a good shared hosting ;)

Use control panel like DirectAdmin or Plesk, will do the JOB :)
