I have never used JetBackup, but have used R1Soft for years and have not need to switch.

We have occasionally had some issues with R1Soft, but their support has always stepped in and taken care of any issues.

Hi,

We've never used R1Soft so we can't comment but we have nothing but great things to say about JetBackup and their support team.

Some are the pros are that it's relatively cheap and the software itself is easy-to-use.

I heard more good feedback for R1Soft on the forum but no more for Jetbackup. What are advantages of it?

Ease of use, allows connecting with many platforms but the best is for ssh makes incremental backups. From files, ssl, dns zone separately.

Hello,

First can someone can confirm jetbackup is a serverbackup solution (never used it)?

With r1soft you can backup the entire server, restore one particular file or the hole server + you can access different versions of the files (depending on the recurrence).

Many Organization will say to go for R1Soft as they are in the market quit long time compare to JetBackup. Even if you use cPanel/WHM you can do the same thing by setting up a FTP server with cPanel's inbuilt Backup Solutions which is best.

Absolutely, but then I would have to kill you!

In all seriousness....I, like a significant chunk of the industry, haven't used R1Soft since there never ending debacle a number of years ago. I don't recall which major version they released, but when they did everything went to hell overnight. MySQL would take forever to backup if not fail all together, many machines would crash when being backed up and a whole slew of other issues. Prior to that debacle everyone was adopting R1Soft as there really wasn't any other decent solution, but once the nightmare began everyone began leaving them in droves and is one of the major reasons you no longer see them everywhere like you once did.

As to JetBack, I have been using it for over year across numerous machines and honestly...it just works. It's inexpensive, reliable, sends email alerts, easy to use for admins and clients, etc. - overall it is a great solution. Full system restores aren't as simple of R1Soft (pop in the ISO and wait), but it still gets the job done.

Tested out R1Soft which worked just fine. However is switched over to JetBackup as R1Soft doesn't have single file restore while JetBackup does. There were a few other small features within JetBackup that were not available within R1Soft. Also JetBackup just seemed a little more user friendly and simple to use.

R1Soft however has changed so many hands in the past couple of years, and no new developments have occured over the past 6 months or so.. for that I'd suggest JetBackups for now
