How many guys here using cPanel to host your websites? I am using a WHM/cPanel license but feeling it is expensive, would like to have a good alternative with lower price. What control panel would you recommend me? why?
I can recommend use VestaCP for personal use and ISPmanager if for business.

Why ?

Because VestaCP is free and has updates.

ISPmanager cheaper and has easy updates +good friendly support.

I use both Cpanel and plesk and find that yes most of the world know more about Cpanel but the power behind them both are about the same, depending on what you require from it,

they are both easy to use and manage but if you are looking to host then would probably be Cpanel as most of the world already knows about it and quite confidently know how to use it where as plesk yet might be well known it might not be well known to some of your potential clients or customers.
I have same thoughts with you, cPanel is not better than Plesk but because they have better UI which users prefer that.

Because VestaCP is free and has updates.
What updates?

While cPanel is the primary control panel used by the industry, the OP asked for cheap alternatives. Also with full support for Ngnix and MySQL 5.7, which cPanel does not have, it definitely has its place in the market. But it should be taken on a use by use case.

Cpanel is the industry standard and is widely support by a large community .Cpanel can be expensive but it worth it for all of the modules and features that it offers. You can also sell hosting package to offset the cost.

The most widely used. Cheapest Control Panel after the cpanel
DirectAdmin is.
Approximately user-friendly. Update . Backup and restore easy by managers and representatives.
Has all the features of cPanel.
directadmin price 4$ /MON

Hi.

you dont need panel if you have knowledge with lamp and managing the vps. you can setup your site without a panel and it will be also more faster.

but if you want a panel so go on with webmin, its free and easy to use.

People have already said this but DirectAdmin is the way to go if you don't want to use cpanel I guess. There are other options out there but at $4 a month you cant really complain

I'm using cPanel on basically every website I have. I don't mind it, since in most cases, web hosting providers deal with the licences, but when I'm managing a server myself, then yep, it's pretty expensive.
Pretty decent alternative (don't judge me) is ISPmanager -it's pretty fast, reliable, easy and a bit cheaper.
And there are other options as well...

The very good thing about it is the interface, very stable for websites, also it is an easy one to work with.
Personally, I have an issue with very graphical interfaces, so it is not like my favorite one.
But yes, I had the opportunity to use it, it was super handy and I would recommend it.
One final point is the fact that it was kind of expensive at least for me.

I am just curious why you have an issue with very graphical interfaces?
Is it too complicated to use and you wanted to have a simpler interface for hosting control panel?

One final point is the fact that it was kind of expensive at least for me.
This is true because for almost users who has less money then investing into a VPS with a cPanel liecnese is not possible
that's why more people came with free hosting control panels like webmin or vestacp, centos web panel :)

I believe majority of websites are hosted on cPanel. But there are other control panel used by owner and developer. Parallel is one of the second popular control panel in paid category.

The fact with graphical interfaces is that sometimes they get kind of complicated.
Instead of making things easier I feel overloaded with the design.
I know, a poorly design interface will get less users, but yes, in my particular case I prefer a simple one

cPanel is one of the best and easy control panel to manage hosting accounts and we do use it.
In the terms of free control panel, I would suggest to use centoswebpanel which looks good with features.

Do you use cPanel? - I guess the answer you are going to receive most is "yes". It is using widely and most people just love to see it in their host. The biggest advantages of cPanel are - it is simple to use, good docs and community support, their support team is awesome, so many add-ons available, outsourced support is relately cheap, regualr updates, etc . So is it worth ? That depends on for what purpose you are going to use it or how confortable you will be dealing with server commandline and other such utlities. If you are beginner and not in a mood to learn more - you should go for cPanel I suggest. If you have little advanced knolwedge, you may go with Plesk as well as it has some wonderful tools as well. There are other wonderful free / cheap solutions like directadmin, interworx, vestacp, centos panel, etc...but its all about how fast you can adapt their working and your hosting env.
