I was debating this with a friend of mine and I think it can make for a great discussion.

Do you think that simple/flat or "2D" logos are better?

OR do you think that more complex "3D" logos are better?

I am talking about a generalization, not as par what you used on your own sites.

I think the 2D ones look more professional over all. They are cleaner and tend to be easier to read.

I prefer flat logos in general as they feel more modern.

A flat logo is what everyone is going with currently. From Microsoft, Apple to even Google everyone is on the flat logo bandwagon.

Flat design is great for users who are highly attuned to digital interaction, I suggest it too.

By far, the flat logos. Where not back in the 90's. Look at all the big companies, they have even changed them in recent times, such as Google.

Flat logos all the way! Your logo is a crucial part of your branding. It needs to send good vibes and the right messages. Big companies spend a fortune on plain flat logos, and sometimes you wonder where's the catch? But they've surely done the research and know exactly how powerful flat logos are.

Flat.
Although if your mark & type are old-school, keep the original look of the mark & type but make it flat.
Example being Google - looks very much the same - but flat.

Yes. In fact 2D logos nowadays are trends of logo design. How ironic 3D logo designs look much of early 2000's you know what I mean? Plus, I think that's why 2D is a thing here is because it is much simple to look at and not that complicated unlike most of 3D logos, you can hardly know what's the motive of the logo. The purpose of a good logo design is to send message subconciously to the viewer. I'm not saying that all 3D logos are like that, there are still some good 3D logos out there.

All kind of style in making a logo is good on its own and it will always depend on where will that logo be used for. If I do t-shirt logo I like it to be so detailed and colorful while making logos for business I mostly make them minimal yet informative.

Simplicity is always ideal when it comes to a company logo. Remember that it will be the image of your business or company, so try to make it easier to interpret or understandably. Just try to mix and match different colors that is eye catching.

Just try 3D logos but keep it simple. Make it something futuristic. Another suggestion is to take a look on the net for sample logos. Surely, you will grasp an idea which turns into your best preference.

I prefer flat logos than 3 dimensional ones because putting or inserting logos to present your web don't need to be too much fancy it can only be a waste of your effort and your time. The important is that your logo must be presentable and has a wonderful meaning that can catch the attention of the viewers.

For the professional use, flat logs are preferred and it is preferred by the users too. Logo used to describe the purpose of the website so those should be simple and informative which can be achieved by flat logos. 2D and 3D logos does not look professional. The visitors wants simple things with the great message which flat logos cover.

Go for it. :)

2d and 3d both looks good but to make your website looks professional I highly suggest to make it flat or 2d. In my own opinion 3d logos are used just to make your logo unique but still there are many ways to make your flat logo unique and attractive. Just widen your imagination and creativity.

these 3 type are good for different section. If it works with any graphics related website then some uses 2d some are flat. For looking nice 3d is great but it has complex part this is why people dont want use it. I think in professional way flat logo are more easy to use and its looks good though not like 3d but works fine and easy to use.
