Youtube video owners would love to see their videos being shared on various platforms. As long as the video has a purpose related to what you are aiming for, and it is morally and ethically all right in the eyes of viewers, it will do fine.

Yes, Embedding or posting videos from Youtube are legal but never forget the to put credits to the owner of the video on your post. By crediting the owner you will be able to help him popularize his video and you can popularize your website at the same time. It is like hitting two birds with one stone.

Hey all!!!

So now is in 2017, is it legal to embed Youtube Videos on your blogs IF you don't own the video or you are NOT using the videos to sell anything?

I mean videos are not mine, will it be considered legal or illegal?

Or, even if you are selling any products but you don't have videos for them, is it okay to have videos on your blog that may be helpful to your customers because it is related to your product?

Or, what if you just think it's a cool video and you wanna embed it?

What do you know about the legalities of this? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance
John
Maybe as long as they grant you permission to embed their videos to your website. And I don't think that's illegal, they might be glad that you were helping them gain views by adding their videos to your site. Communicate with them if its okay for them, if yes, that's good, but if not, accept it.

Yes, it is legal for you to post Youtube videos even though it is not your own content. Though it is best for you to ask permission from the content owner first about your posting. It is still a count a view for them if you will just copy from Youtube the URL for the video, but if you plan to download their video and post it as if it is yours in your website is big NO. That would fall under copy right and the content owner will have the right to sue you for stealing intellectual property.

There shouldn't be a problem in embedding YouTube videos on other websites because you are not actually stealing a copyrighted video. You are only making links available for people to watch. That only means when people click the link, you will be one of the hits and that will benefit the original owner and creator of the video. They are correct, just do not download and upload and then claim it your own because that's unacceptable.

Yes, it is legal to post youtube videos on your website as long as you read the youtube terms and agreements. Youtube has an embed function where you can add its videos to a certain websites. Also, as long as you will not claim that it is your video then there will no be problem. But if it is your video, then you can freely add it .

It varies for different videos. Some videos may show an error, smth like: "you can not watch this video on exterior website"

Just make sure it is your video and that you embed the video on your website there should be no problems after that.

Giving others the right to embed your video is one of the options when you upload a video to YouTube. As an author, if you select to disable embedding, visitors won't see any code for embedding. If the code is available, then the author has authorized it.
