You should be proud that you are migrating your website from normal http to https(ssl), although it is not a big deal at all.
Beacuse if you are dealing with sensitive data on your website, it is mandatory that the data should be protected. an encrypted data is a secure one, and thus we consider SSL is the best solution for securing our data.

Have you hosted your site i a shared environment(is it is cpanel powered), then ask your host to provide a free ssl like Lets encrypt(time saving and free)

But one thing you consider that you should check your site with a developer and replace all wbsite content with http to https because otherwise you will get a warning symbol when you call your website with https.
but that is common and simple procedure for a developer.

Migrating from http to https is actually a good move for SEO . If its an online store where the payments transactions are happening you must have SSL installed for security.

You can either use lets encrypt SSL or can go with either Domain validation SSL or Organization Validation SSL which can be purchased from third party SSL provider or from your hosting provider itself if they are selling it.

Having OV SSLs makes positive impact.

HTTPS is best. Google gives a rankings boost to https. Also when traffic passes from a HTTPS site to a HTTP site, the referral data gets stripped away. This traffic shows up in your analytics report as 'Direct.' This is a problem because you don't know where the traffic actually comes from.

You will have to check if your website sitemap is added in the Google Search Console, because you may have issue with duplicate content after the migration from http to https.
It's recommanded to remove any sitemap on Google Search console before the migration, to force google to rebrowse your website.

There's one key thing you should be aware of: Google treats HTTPS migrations as a site move and, as you probably know, a site move can come with some rankings issues. This means that:
1.You may experience a temporary fluctuation in site ranking during the move.
2.HTTPS sites receive a small ranking boost, but don't expect a visible change.

Migrating from http to https is actually a good move for SEO.
Have you tried and had good result with SEO?

Your web site traffic can be decreased because google need time to move all from http to https and need but 301 moved redirect.
If you do proper 301 redirection then you don't need to worry about decreasing rankings or traffic for your website when moving to https. :)
