To create a new website is not an easy job but and many aspects are tough to execute. I find the task of creating functionality that is user-friendly and swift more tough to execute than various other aspects of website creation.

I personally feel creating the website isn't the most difficult task rather maintaining and growing it is far more difficult.

Website creation has become fairly easy now. You have many tools and ready to use scripts available for your project. However, you need to be really skillful and dedicated to actually grow the website.

The hardest part? Too many options like you alluded to. You can't even buy a domain name without several options that go along with it and charging for things you don't actually need. But several years ago there wasn't much choice so I suppose now it is better for most people. The hardest part for a web hosting provider however, is what our clients expectations are...

There are 101+ difficult parts when building a new site as:
Web design (template)
Web hosting
Select a domain
Content
Platform
Marketing
Choosing niche
..etc

But according to my personal opinion, the hardest part is "A Plan" which included all parts above, If you know what you will build and how it will happen later then you can be successful or vice versa your website will be failed at the first steps.

If you are a developer and know how to create a website and how things work, then it will be fine to develop a website and more interesting. If you are paying to a developer , its more complicated because you have to explain and convince the developer what your idea is and how your website looks like.

Also, you need to select the platoform of web development like whether its should be wordpress, php or joomla etc.....
The post part like hosting and maintaining is not that difficult , moreover your webhost will provide a descent support

Attracting traffic. Nowadays there are tons of website builders, templates etc and hosting+domain name is cheap, but making your website popular is really hard task.

I can say that the hardest part of building a website will be as following

1) Choosing a domain name
2) Choosing Website Framework

For that here is an overview of different frameworks and their usage in real world.

1, 2 are rather easy for most people but when it comes to choosing a web hosting. It depends on lots of factors. Once, you choose web hosting you rely on the server and hosting providers that they will make sure that your website is up and running as per SLA.

Based on the framework, you choose in point 2, you will choose web hosting.

Now basically hosting comes in 2 categories if we consider underlying operating system is major differentiator.

a) Windows web hosting
b) Linux web hosting

b is the most used web hosting OS and works with different types of frameworks.

Next, depending on your budget, needs and requirements you can choose between the following:

Shared Web Hosting
Virtual Private Server
Dedicated Web Hosting
and Cloud Web Hosting

In the point 2 itself you will come to know, if you can build the website yourselves or you will need to outsource to a developer. So this is the process of website building workflow.

If you want to develop website on your own, you must have some basic skills or knowledge of working with website design and development.

Wordpress is most preferred solution for small businesses and individuals that need or want to build the website themselves on low budget. I hope this helps and clears the way to help you with your website building. Thank you.

'Content is KING'
What do you need the website for
who are those you wish to locate the website
Content delivery
Page load speed
Easy to read-appealing/design

You need something more flexible, dynamic, and you are in control of.

I will say the hardest thing is in getting a good name for your project.
With hosts, you can keep switching until you find one that gives you peace of mind.

Yes content is King but it can be solved by good writers?

Page load speed can be solved by a fast web hosting server

So I think in your suggestions, this is the most hardest part when building a new site

I will say the hardest thing is in getting a good name for your project.
Because sometimes I also get confused with it for a new websites

As for me, the hardest part is to create a user-friendly interface. If it is difficult to work with the site, you`ll lose your potential clients.

There are many web designers out there and they can help you on this hardest part with a little money to spend for.
Or a simpler way you can buy a theme from several websites that selling website templates, that will you to save more time and efforts to build a template from scratch or no knowledge about programming.

I think the hardest and most important thing when building a website is to make it user-friendly and easy-to use. Because no matter how beautiful your website is, if your visitors can't easily find what they need, they may not come back again.

Yes... the hardest thing is, to understand thinking of your customers. What they do like, what they don't like, which things will lead them to stay on your site and buy from you...

Yes this thing is not easy :)
Have you faced this before? and have you got any ideas to know their opinions?
I see some site putted a poll on their sites to ask how about their design or asking review section on other sites.

for me the hardest part of it is the template & the right domain for it! like right now I made a warez site. Now I'm struggling on what forum to use for it (Xen, IPB, VB, PHPBB) :rolleyes2: all these great scripts to use just makes it harder xD

2 things I've found hardest when building a site.

1 - finding a domain I actually want to use - I end up spending aggesssss for that.
2 - Keeping up with maintaining the site or getting people involved.

I must have a fair amount of domains and websites by now myself (outside of my work at DCP), and I always find those the two biggest problems.

The hardest part for me is design when building the site. What I usually do to make it easier is open Mac Preview or grab a sheet of paper and map out what I want the site to look like. It helps a ton especially when choosing the theme. :)

When starting a company, the hardest part for me is choosing the name, domain, etc.
