Making exceptions to package offers?

So this is a bit of a random question but I am curious if anyone out there has done it.

Running a hosting company, we all typically have our own sets of packages and offers. What if someone has come to you wanting different things from different packages?

Do you make exceptions and offer custom orders for these clients?

I don't run a web hosting business but if you have requests for custom offers, you should have a custom page where your customers can request custom offers.
This often does on many niche sites, not only for web hosting and it worked.

Yes you already answered your question.
You should make exceptions and creating custom orders if you have requests like that.

This is a must if you want to bring in new clients. Otherwise, they will just go to the next company. After all, there is an abundance of them :bash:

We don't get much demand for custom packages as our range suits the needs of most customers, but Ww do supply custom VPS plans if needed.

If you set up your billing system the right way, you should be able to offer custom packages without even having to do anything manually...

For this you usually need to have a in-house system which bigger companies can afford, smaller ones use WHMCS or the likes and these are not too flexible. IMO

I disagree, we use WHMCS, and we have our packages configurable with custom resources.

Custom packages mean particular requirements. It's not because you can do it automatically than you should do this way. A lot of clients are looking for more than a provider with WHMCS and some plugins.

Really the OP has not specified whether talking about custom features not usually offered at all versus custom packages for resources typically offered but not in predefined sizes. Based on him using the word "packages" though, I can only assume he means the latter, hence why I answered the question that way.

Also, there are inexpensive 3rd party modules out there that expand the capabilities of WHMCS considerably for just this need.
Check out http://www.modulesgarden.com for one...

When we started we tried that but soon we realized clients do not like custom packages because many client do not know what they need. It is same thing you go to pizza shop and they ask you what ingredients you need? May be many will like that but I will say just give me good pizza.
