Do you use a toll free phone number? eg. 1-800 or 1-888 etc.

If so how do you have it set up? Eg. are you using a hosted voip solution or something else.

Thanks

I have used Grasshopper in the past. I think it depends largely on the clientele that one is attracting as to whether or not it will be used however. In my experience, the number is there more so as a business formality rather than actual use.

We use a cloud-based VOIP PBX. We have the option of adding toll-free, but instead have 3 regional local-numbers in places where we have buildups of customers or remote-employees (let's call them POP's).

As mentioned before, the phone is rarely used for support, but IS often used for sales. A lot of old-guard brick-and-mortar businesses and organizations like to use the phone, and as such we will always have our PBX available.

I have used Grasshopper in the past but no longer do so because our clients rarely utilized calling. We do have a local number but again it's rarely utilized as most clients simply open a ticket in HostBill when they need help. Technical issues are easier to handle via ticketing anyways in my opinion and tickets are usually at least acknowledged and (most) handled within 30 minutes of being opened.

We do have a few customers outside of the USA (for whom a toll free number might benefit) however none of them ever called when we did have the toll free number. For clients within the US I think most cell phone providers offer free domestic long distance so dialing a toll free vs local number makes no difference.

Used Grasshopper.io in the past but was useless. Just got a call few times regarding silly issues & one call was from a web designing company who spammed us to get our site designed by them.

So I think its useless unless you have hordes of clients who are impatient.

If you are registered business or company most telecom providers will be able to setup a toll free number which is paid for monthly or atleast a regular pay per call phone number which will redirect to your desired phone number.
