Think of the SolusVM Master as the control center of your SolusVM cluster. It stores the settings for SolusVM, and is where your clients will login to to manage their servers. A SolusVM slave is an actual server that you install the hypervisor onto. You can add multiple slave servers to your SolusVM Master. You can also add a hypervisor to your master (at the time of installation) if you wish to run VMs on the master as well (although I discourage it). In this sense, your master could be a KVM VPS and your slave would be a dedicated server.

Nice Explanation !! . The best practice is to keep Solusvm master and slave seperated. A solusvm master can be a VPS or a dedicated server however the slave where the VPS will be hosted should be a high end configuration server.

Also, if you are offering KVM services you HAVE to have a stand alone master and a KVM slave due to the way KVM works. If I remember correctly with OpenVZ you technically can have the slave and master running on the same server (although I personally consider that to be bad practice so please don't do that people).
