I came across this provider when looking at different hosts and their prices seem like there might be a catch or some hidden costs somewhere.

Why is Scaleway so cheap? Are they legit?

I suppose it was an unmanaged dedicated server provider hence its pricing was not included managed services
So they are cheap.

I figured that they would be unmanaged but they are still cheap even for unmanaged servers. It just seemed like there might be something that I wasn't seeing or knowing about them.

They seems legit for me ... regarding the cost looks the FAQs they have mentioned on their website and you will find every information about the costs.
After doing some more looking around in Google I found that they do seem like a legitimate hosting provider. At first look though something just seemed strange.

Scaleway are a legitimate provider and are a sub brand of online.net who are a massive provider.

They have a good solid network behind them, the reason they're so cheap is because they use ARM processors. The x86 servers use Avoton which are known to perform a lot worse compared to an E3 or E5 for example.

You could use the server for small non critical projects, but for production I would go with something a bit more powerful.

CPU is everything on a server. Everything a server does is handled by the CPU.
Like Virtubox said you often find these atom CPU's in low end laptops and mobile devices, but they do have a market. I have a backup server with an atom as CPU power is not needed but I can't see many other uses for these CPU's. Better off going with a VPS which has e3 or e5 cores imo.

Hello
Scaleway is a legitmate business. I personally have not used them in the past so cant say much however what I would find out for sure before purchasing is what exact model CPU they use.
Be sure to contact them directly and find out what CPU they use before purchasing. If you get an answer we would love to know :)

As far as I know,Scaleway is a legit company.
They are owned by a pubicly traded company.
However, there have been some 'not so great' reviews from users about their support.
They use Intel Atom C2750, which might help them to reduce costs.
Before you use them, it's essential to know your personal needs.
Do not be blinded by low prices.
