I want to try maxcdn but I don't know it is better than Cloudflare or not. Did any one use both these CDNs? please share your experience. What is the difference between maxcdn and cloudflare? and which one is better?

Hi steitieh!

Good question! These two are both CDN providers though they work in a pretty different way with their general setup. Cloudflare would host your DNS and would deliver your whole site - but in a case of an issue with their DNS - your site would render unavailable at that point.

As far as MaxCDN goes - the primary setup is used to deliver your static assets (.css, .js, and images) but they offer full site deliver as well ( through Stackpath which they recently partnered up with).

Now, all of this info might not be of a lot of use for you so it would be great if you could provide us with more info on what your general use case is and what your goals are. Which CMS are you using? What kind of a hosting solution?

The biggest difference is MaxCDN is a real CDN and Cloudflare is not (at least the free plan). The Cloudflare "CDN" is basically a distributed reverse proxy. You must also host your DNS with them. As a reverse proxy it can mitigate web attacks and reduce bw utilization at your host. However Cloudflare does not offer/use the traditional CDN features of Origin, Edge, and Caching like MaxCDN and other CDN services (e.g., Akamei, Edgecast, Cloudfront) do.
