Hi Guys, a good news is today I have just bought a VPS plan on this forum, I am checking account information that my provider sent to my email. Just a question I want to check its performance before install a hosting control panel to it. Is it possible? How to quick test my VPS host for performance? especially I want to see the benchmark of my VPS. Thanks

This depends on many different things.

Speed of what?

network connection?
Disk read speed?
disk write speed?
disk cache read/write speed?
cpu clock speed?
memory access speed?

What are you wanting to test ?

I thought I wanted to check speed of downloading/uploading of my VPS but since you shared the great list above. I would to check all if they are possible to do.
Can you share tips on how to check all these features for my VPS? Do I need to use a tool or can check by commands? I prefer using commands because they are faster and more convenient.

Download speed test

Code:
 wget --output-document=/dev/null http://speedtest.wdc01.softlayer.com/downloads/test500.zip
For testing other things I would suggest you speak to your provider as depending on the type of virtualization different tools will give different results.

You can check that easily with unixbench or freevps.us test.
Just type following commend after logging in as root or administrator

wget --no-check-certificate freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null | bash
