Good morning,

In phpBB 3.0.x, there is a MOD called phpBB Ultimate URL by phpbb-seo.com but for phpBB 3.1.x there is not a stable extension (Ultimate URL in GitHub works on phpBB 3.1.x but is not a stable version).

Maybe try MyBB, SMF, Vanilla or vBulletin instead.

MyBB 2 is supposed to have SEO friendly URLs. It is scheduled to be launched at some unknown date. Anyway, phpBB has a free plugin to make it SEO friendly. You can find a link to it on the phpBB support forum. However, I think it's not considered one of their tested releases. Nonetheless, it seems like I've seen websites using it, but they have been using the paid SEO mod that someone mentioned on this thread.

You can make PHPBB Forum SEO friendly URL in two ways.
1. Modify .htaccess
2. Download PhpBB-Pretty-URLs, which is a Phpbb mod and upload it to your forum gthrough Auto Mod.
The second option is easy.
If you are still unsure about this you can look for phpBB Extension which as a basic purpose of rewriting URL for phpBB.
