All my websites have built base on Wordpress cms but checking hosting offers, I saw web hosts are offering Wordpress hosting. My question is if I move my websites to Wordpress hosting plans, will they improve the speed and performance or what's the difference between Wordpress hosting and web hosting?

In most case its just marketing trick, but if not then means that provider have all you need for wordpress.

Will they improve speed and performance? Depend, what I mean is that if your hosting provider is good then is great chance that you will not see difference, in other case any other provider will be better then your currently provider.
I will 1st check all spec and benefits from that "wordpress hosting" provider and compare with your current hosting then I will decide what to do.

Typically no.

"WordPress Hosting" is usually no different from traditional shared hosting. However, if you are considering switching to a host that advertises this, be sure to ask them what makes them different. I have heard of a few that actually do proactive WordPress updates/patches for the in customers.

They will probably tell you something vague like they are optimised for WordPress.

Mostly all marketing, I have seen many providers where if you look at their shared hosting and "WordPress Hosting" it's exactly the same package !
As long as the provider uses some type of server side cache and has a fast SSD platform thats about as "WordPress Optimized" as you can get.

Remember WordPress is just a PHP application just like MyBB or any other PHP based app.

Would you mind telling us what special modules and resource limits your 'Wordpress Hosting' has that traditional shared hosting does not?

I'm not sure with your question sir, because you are a senior.

I said little minimum:

40 process
Ram dedicated 512MB per account
Varnish Cache & Memcached installed.
Github Integration
All Mod Php Speedup installed & Tweak webserver (Admin server usually understood)

Generally speaking it is a marketing gimmick since WordPress has caught on a lot, people just want a site up quickly and they prefer wordpress, so the marketing just changed from "hosting" anything to "wordpress" hosting. So the end user knows clearly what they are getting. In fact, hosts prefer to go this route because it standardizes their entire hosting application and now they don't have to worry too much about unknown scripts running that are hosted on accounts running custom scripts etc. Everything is WordPress and hence easier to troubleshoot or isolate issues.

However, there are providers that specialize in WP hosting. For example, some of them offer Redis caching which speeds up WP. Some of them offer free themes and plugins since they can use the same plugins for multiple accounts if they run a multi-site setup on the server etc. Also, it is highly likely that if you opt for WP hosting, you will not get a cPanel. You will just get the WP dashboard access.

However, the underlying technology and setup still remains the same. It is only the application layer that is changing.

You should rethink what you say. So learn how the component/module on wordpress hosting, not just wp dasboard.

All were wordpress needed now already in cpanel, wp cli, github, wp sync??? With cpanel user could use more features. It depends on how the process server administrator to blend with wp.

Marketing plow, but I would read the fine print to see exactly what their wordpress hosting offers. they may be expert wordpress maintainers who know the ins and outs of wordpress and will help you when you run into issues. There are many ways they can add value to a wordpress hosting package.

Unfortunately WordPress hosting has become a big debate, which it shouldn't have been. I will try to explain the difference without making it a page long post.

A small number of WordPress web hosts actually focus on just WordPress and only WordPress. Most of the staff may have been designers who worked exclusively with WordPress websites, and have done troubleshooting with just WordPress, so as soon as someone mentions an issues, the resolution is almost instant from previous experience.

Accounts are configured for just WordPress. Actual WordPress web hosts do not use cPanel, and will stay away Centos/Apache. Nothing wrong with them, but for WordPress, only two things are needed...PHP and MySqL. Control panels, one-click-installers, and the multiples of options available are not needed, which in essence become wasted use of RAM and resources.

Now without saying anything bad about other hosts...it's basically the comparison of taking an everyday family car to a Walmart equivalent mechanic, or taking a fine quality car to a mechanic that specializes in just that car. Perfect example...I had a nice car in high school (from my older brother) and there was specific mechanic he would go to that specialized in that type of car. The mechanic was about 30 minutes away. In school, 30 minutes was still a life time. So for an oil change, I decided to go to Canadian Tire. First and last time. After waiting 20 minutes during my lunch, the mechanic came to ask me where the oil filter was. Isn't that his job? Fortunately I knew where it was so could show him. A mechanic who knew that car would never ask that because it's their job. You pay a little more, but it's worth it.

The other differences...web hosts who sell WordPress as a marketing gimmick tend to sell just about anything hosting, and the packages are just a renaming of existing packages (Shared Package A -> WordPress Package A, Shared B -> WP B)...no differences between the two.

Again, it's not an insult to other hosts. Someone who is just starting to use WordPress or has a small amount of visitors....go with any reputable web host.

Someone whose WordPress website has a significant amount of traffic...is not interested in doing server management, and is making an income from their website would usually do well with a WordPress Managed web host.

Despite many others already requesting you to clearly define what you mean by different and better than shared you are yet to do so. So, if you think you know any better, please be constructive and list out what are the differences than just saying its better.

All were wordpress needed now already in cpanel, wp cli, github, wp sync??? With cpanel user could use more features. It depends on how the process server administrator to blend with wp.
Sorry that sentence makes no sense, please rephrase.

I purposely did not written clearly.

Do I have to disassemble the secret of the company on the configuration, module/plugin used for wordpress hosting to public? If you are our client, you will know the difference shared wp hosting or managed wordpress hosting vs traditional hosting.

So please do not use superfluous words.

I really appreciate your efforts to say about all wordpress hosting company is gimmick

The answer to this question is honestly going to depend on the web host. In realty, there is no such thing as "Wordpress Hosting", but rather just more or less resources + pro active WordPress management and support.

As we run into each other :dans2:

So then I would question;

- email web hosting
- database hosting
- dns hosting
- storage hosting

All of them are hosting, but each one serves a different purpose...and with that purpose, different configurations. One cannot host on a Server or VPS that's just used for storage.

The same argument could go into a car mechanic. One might be able to do general work on any car, but that doesn't mean they can work on any car. They may even need special tools since cars are just a computer on wheels now.

In music...a recording engineer and master engineer are both engineers...but between the two, they do not listen to music the same, and do not use the same tools.

If we just call all web hosting just web hosting, how does the customer differentiate which web host will respond to a ticket with either "the issue has been solved", or "WordPress is 3rd party and we cannot help"?

It's funny how many threads from "WordPress hosts" were started due to not getting the help they expected, to realize it was only SEO.

In this respect, I will argue that shared web hosting and "wordpress" web hosting are one in the same. Meaning the purpose of both services is to serve web pages. Therefore, there truly is no such thing as "wordpress" web hosting. There is just web hosting (used or the purpose of hosting and serving web pages). Wordpress is not an OS, just a content management system (or website builder).

Like I mentioned in my original post, since (generally speaking) there is no difference between "Wordpress Web Hosting" and "Web Hosting" The potential client will only get the answers to these questions by contacting the web host to see i they support wordpress management or if they have services that include wordpress management.

No one said that. I think you took it personally without understanding what any of us said. What we all said was it was just marketing gimmick as in just saying its something different from shared hosting when its not. Where did you get the idea that we said the WP hosting companies are a gimmick? You understand what a "marketing gimmick" means right?

We ourselves provide WP hosting so for you to even think that I would say that WP hosting companies are a gimmick is completely absurd. I understand that not everyone in the forum has a very good grasp of English but if there is something you do not understand or think was wrong, please ask and clarify than going all guns blazing.

Do I have to disassemble the secret of the company on the configuration, module/plugin used for wordpress hosting to public?
Come on, let's be real. There is nothing so secret about WP hosting. You are using publicly available plugins and if you honestly can't disclose what you're selling to the public, then LOL.

Anyways, unless you have something to list out clearly what you mean by the WP hosting is better than shared, then please don't clutter this thread by accusing others of not know anything about hosting (yes, I got your first reply telling that I don't know anything).

I do agree with you...the only issue....myself and others who are not just branded as a WP host do not use a shared environment. It wouldn't make sense. Every WP website has different needs, and with those needs, it's possible to customize each account. Mind you, a majority of accounts can use a standard setting, but some really do need their own configuration which would not be fair to "share" with others. Yes, it's not an OS, but depending on the OS behind it, you can get better results, and some of those things cannot be done on cPanel. I wont even get into those train wreck plugins that exist for cPanel.

That's why it makes sense to tell people it they're starting out, use any reputable host...but if the person only uses their Dashboard, then why even have a cPanel account. Some never log into it for years, and never use any of options available to them...and are not interested to use them.

The sad thing...during the pre-sale process, the host will always say they can do anything and everything...and refund you with zero issues if something should go wrong.

Personally I think the proper name for the service you described is Wordpress Management vs Wordpress Web Hosting. Wordpress Hosting (to me) is just a buzz word, where as Wordpress Management is an actual service.

Well, I like to think there are still some good and honest web hosts out there that will clearly state what is and is not covered in their standard support. As mentioned above I think it really comes down to whether or not the web host offers any type of Wordpress Management services. If not, then they should state what is covered in their technical support (ideally of course as I am not lost to the fact that there are many web hosts that do not function in this manner).
