Hi everyone, I am not sure what does it mean "Monthly Bandwidth Transfer (GB)" when viewing it on my web hosting panel. Like some web sites give you 50GB or 80GB or some says 120GB. So, if I visit any web site how much transfer it takes? Any one explains me what is monthly bandwidth Transfer (GB) on a website? and how does that calculate?

This means how much transfer from your hosting account or server you allowed to use each month. Typically this calculated by the hosting provider's analysis of log files for server logs and/or network logs.

Lets assume you have a single page website. And on that single page you have 1 picture which is 1MB(Megabyte) in size. Every time someone opens the page, the image is displayed on their screen and 1MB of bandwidth is consumed. Now, if the web page is visited by 1000 people 1MBx1000times = 1GB of bandwidth is consumed.

So, it depends on your page size. If you have pages with a lot of content and images that is heavy in size, then your bandwidth will run out sooner than sites which are lean in size.

Normally bandwidth is measured in both directions, that is when someone uploads or downloads from the site. However, there are providers out there that charge only for outbound bandwidth and everything uploaded to the server remains free.

It depends on the size of all the elements on your website. Like the html itself maybe 25 kb but images on the page can be 2 MB each time the page is loaded each of these things are downloaded. So take that amount for each page then multiply that times how many times each page is visited in a month, there you get your monthly bandwidth total.

Unless you are hosting large images, video files or audio files then your site shouldn't use that much bandwidth. But it also is determined by how many page visits your site is getting.
