Hey Guys,

I saw many sites using this domain as m.domain.com when viewing their site on mobile device. how can I do that? does it have any advantage and i should use same domain as domain.com for both desktop and mobile version? any advice?

sub domains are fairly easy to create, you are required to to use your cpanel/plesk from your host side to create the sub domain or use the domain panel from the domain hoster.

There could be some advantages however nothing to worry about if your website isn't a huge size. some people use a sub domain so that they can place the sub domain on a separate host or a separate hosting package to take some traffic weight off of the main domain.

Also some websites use the sub domain to divide the mobile and desktop traffic for analytics and also again to take the pressure off of the main website.

if you are using wordpress, there are tones of plugins that would do this for you however i do not suggest it unless your website is fairly big as you want your traffic to be focused on one domain (for SEO purposes). and also so that costs of hosting come down. (you could host the subdomain on the same hosting package if allowed by hosting package.)

SEO wise having Mobile compatible website is always recommended , read through the accelerated mobile pages article on google and you would get all the idea on how to create the mobile site and its information

You can use .htaccess to redirect your mobile users to a subdomain which hosts the mobile version of the website for example m.domain.com.
There are advantages when it comes to a Mobile Subdomain, loading speed is improved when using a separate subdomain, which results in better google ranking.

It depends on the web site builder or software that you are using. Most of the time the software itself will have a mobile version you can use.

You could always make a mobile theme or template that points to m.yoursite.com, it's just a simple sub domain that you can add in your cPanel.

Hi Harry, you don't need to use separated domain like that, just using a theme that is responsive theme so that you can view it on both desktop and mobile devices .

Responsive websites will just adjust the theme/template/layout to the size of the device. Just make sure your site theme is responsive and you don't need to worry about a mobile sub domain.
