How to install MyBB via FTP program?
As HostXNow helped you, you need to upload your MyBB source files via FTP and follow guides from that link.
If you want to use free forum software, I would recommend PHPBB, it also a good one.
Other than that, you can go with paid forum software as vB, XF, IPB.

Hope that helps!

I also recommend using the application installer provided by your host such as Softaculous. Any good host should have a easy to use apps installer for non technical customers.

Softaculous man! It can be done without any hassle! Check it out in your cpanel (if you have it) or follow the steps mentioned in HostXnow's post.

If this is in shared hosting, your provider must have in control panel one of the following free galleries for their clients

Softacuolous

Choose the forum, install it and go

You can not install mybb only with FTP, you wil also need cpanel details to create database and user.

1. Download: mybb-package-name.zip from MYBB website.
2. Extract all the files.
3. Upload all files located in the upload folder to root directory.
4. Once you have uploaded the files, you will need to change the folder permissions of the following:
chmod 666 inc/config.php inc/settings.php
chmod 777 cache/ cache/themes/ uploads/ uploads/avatars/
5. Run the following link replacing example.com with you domain name http://example.com/install
6. Follow the procedures provided on the screen and update database created when asked by the system.
