ISP Bandwidth Limitations

I don't understand how companies like Microsoft can support the massive amount of bandwidth needed to serve their websites and cloud platforms. Does the ISP give them a special line? The highest I ever heard of for personal use was a T-3 connection. But as far as running a home server I am trying to understand what the limitations are for sending and receiving internet traffic. I understand this probably varies from provider to provider, but is getting higher limitations simply a matter of paying more money? Or are there infrastructure limitations as well in a residential area?

For residential, your very limited. If your lucky, you may be able to get. 1Gbps FTTH line.

For service providers, we use multiple 10Gbps fiber connections from diverse carriers.

For Microsoft/Google/Amazon, they have multiple 100Gbps fiber connections...

Money solves a lot of problems, bandwidth being one of them.
