A hosting account is space on a hosting providers servers to host your site. A VPS is your own server with just your site(s) on it.

Take a look at the offers section here. You will find some good deals from quality providers.

Since you are just starting out with a new site, just about any shared hosting account should fit your needs.

Do you have an ad and / or marketing budget and plan to use most of it for digital marketing? Is your ad budget greater or less than $10,000? You can anticipate a good amount of traffic with a large ad budget starting out. Once you start getting > 5,000 visitors (general estimate) and your site is "large" (lots of content, pictures, video that isn't uploaded to YouTube but on your site) then it's time to consider a VPS. More importantly is to consider how you will grow and scale and if your provider can supplement your requirements.

There are several ways to host your own website. Three main ways are Website hosting, cloud hosting and managed hosting
1.Web Hosting: You buy your own servers and equipments and host your websites on these
2.Cloud Hosting: You buys servers from other hosting companies and host your websites on those. Some examples are: Digital Ocean, Amazon Web Services etc
3.Managed Hosting: These basically remove the need of system administrators for you. This is IMO the easiest way since you only have to choose the provider and the application framework and start your own website in a few minutes. Example: Cloudways

Don't be sacred of the whole ' Cloud ' thing.

In simple terms a cloud is just a lot of hardware, storage, CPU, RAM linked together so a server using those resources will not be affected by a hardware failure.
However many people tend to use the term cloud for almost anything (remote storage, remote applications) etc it's a very overused technology buzzword.

Like I said Cloud is just a term used when your hosting is powered by a fail over protected platform. It's just better technology for hosting and pooled computing.
Cloud hosting has zero difference on the application level, i.e your control panel, websites, databases etc But far better back end protection.

It's an overused term, many providers sell hosting products as ' Cloud ' when they do not meet the technical requirements to qualify as true cloud hosting.

Firstly you have to purchase URL and design the website and purchase space or database from hosting provider, where you can store your whole website folders and files in database directory wise after that you have to go in (C Panel) of hosting or database and go live to your website.

As described by other members above, you should register a domain first and then you can purchase hosting by selecting as per your requirement like shared hosting or VPS. My recommendation is managed hosting with CloudLinux OS + CageFS, LiteSpeed Web Server.

Hi Michael,

You will create your website and need a shared hosting to host your website. Find a good domain name to start your website. Many shared hosting provide free domain name with their yearly hosting plans.

Yes I had basic knowledge of html and web design, I could create websites on my PC and finding ways bring them to online. For a newbie I should start a managed hosting? what things do i need to learn to transfer my files to a web host and managing them?

digital ocean has good cheap prices for "droplets", or if your more experienced you can spin up a micro AWS EC2 instance. If your not knowledgable to manage it yourself then the extra overhead you have to pay is for someone else to manage it for you

I have not used AWS EC2 instance but I used DO, DO is easier to manage and it has good price. Other than that, you can go with OVH hosting or some hosting providers on this forum.

it called as managed hosting services, here there are some https://forumweb.hosting/4-managed-service-provider-offers

If you spend a little time on the forum, you can learn how to manage your hosting for yourself.
