Hello friends!!

I have been several thought about making a forum in next months, I've been testing first locally with phpbb3, smf and Mybb, of the 3 that I liked most was Mybb but still did not convince me. Then I met XenForo that I found a good alternative. Now I have a question, 3 years ago I bought a Vbulletin 4 license, which you recommend me? buy XenForo license or use old vBulletin license already have? I've been reading around and people are not talking very well vBulletin and XenForo are quite happy. XenForo is in advantage of having responsive design (for mobile devices or tablet) and also the code is new.

What you recommend me? What is your choice? What about the advantages of vBulletin XenForo?

To start, XenForo doesn't really have any known security flaws. A lot of other communities will tell you that it's more difficult to infiltrate with hack attacks.

Something to consider and I'd like to ask you is where is your target market for your forum? I ask because XenForo is a better option for developing countries for the simple reason that it can still run faster than vB, even on a dial-up connection. In a nutshell, it just uses a lot less resources.

It has built-in SEO and Social sharing features, but then again you can do that with vB also. Marketing for either will be fairly routine as far as SEO and I don't think there are any special advantages from either as far as marketing goes.

This forum seems to use vBulletin. It is responsive, fairly fast, SEO-friendly, and has decent security. vB was probably built with the admin-first perspective whereas XenForo was built consumer-first if that makes sense.

Let's see what others have to say about them.

vBulletin is just a NO NO NO go with Xenforo constantly updated and still has active developers and very very SEO friendly. Speaking of Xenforo I just purchased a license myself for the record so I know for sure its an amazing platform.

good day

Forumweb.hosting

It's an excellent forum

You might be interested in this option

I think it is provided by vbulletin

But if you see the vbulletin website, it is different from the appearance of this forum

You may have a premium vbulletin template

Blessings

It's powered by vBulletin (going by source code), but I wonder whether vBulletin 4 or 5 and which theme? It looks great!

Either vBulletin or XenForo would be a good choice and many times which one you choose to use is based on personal preferences.

I have used most of the popular forum scripts out there both the free ones and the paid ones as well. Out of all of them I like XenForo the best. XenForo is also coming out with XenForo 2.0 soon with some major improvements.

vBulletin is a good option as well but they just haven't stepped up and done any major types of improvements and many people say that vBulletin 5 is a step back from vBulletin 4.

If you are looking for a free option then myBB is the best choice in my opinion.

It all comes does to preferences and you can use the demo's to try them out and see which you like best.

I would go with vBulletin myself personally but that's from years of using vBulletin based forums from a member and mod standpoint and I have always liked it. I like the setup, the controls, the looks and everything.

It seems like vBulletin isn't slowing down a lot based on what I have seen around the internet. Many vB 4x and vB 5 forums popping up everywhere.

I prefer the aesthetics of Xenforo over vB but it really comes down to what you're trying to build and which software works best for you since both are actively being updated and both have very powerful functionally.

I've used both and I have to say I prefer vBulletin over XenForo - but as others have mentioned it is simply a personal preference. It also depends what you want to use your forum for - does vBulletin have a specific plugin which XenForo doesn't or vice versa?

Both XenForo and vBulletin are good forum platforms to use and both have some good features. Since you already have a vBulletin license then I would say that you should just go with vBulletin and then later on you can always convert over to XenForo if you want.

Why put out extra money on a new forum when you don't have to? That way if the forum doesn't work out then you haven't lost the cost of the XenForo license. ;)

vBulletin has always been better, Xenforo is very sleek and stylish with seemingly modern interface but it still can't match the features and power of vBulletin.

I agree with your points but Xenforo always has got better security and as I knew then it has not ever been hacked like vBulletin did.
I know that depends on levels of each server admin or website owner but once again Xenforo is more secure and it is one of reasons why people is tending to xenforo.
